Who was head-writing SFT when Sherry was hired?  Was it his/her idea to kill off Steve, or was the character already ill when that head-writer took over?

Steve was already ill around the August 1975 episode (the synopses posted mention him having a dizzy spell). I think he goes into remission and then when Nouri presumably wanted to leave, his illness returned, and he died.

When did Rod Arrants return? I know Liza encountered a Travis lookalike in the Henderson airport in the final episode, but the character (Sam Ratcliffe) wasn't played by Rod. Did Rod return at another time?

Oh I might be mixing it up with when Dennis Parlato returned at the end of Loving as a lookalike. Sorry.

I could have sworn that somebody (Gerald J. Wagett?) wrote that Rod played the last episode Travis lookalike.

That's what I thought too. I think I may just have never watched the scene...

Mary Stuart's final words ("They were wonderful years") always tear me up.  You literally could see her heart breaking.  She wasn't ready to let go.

The final episode is available online. This is the scene where Liza meets the Travis lookalike in the airport.

Thanks. I've mostly just watched the last moments over the years.

So I guess he's just meant to look like Travis because he has a 'fro? Imagine if she had gotten hooked on Bob Ross repeats instead...

Poor Louan Gideon did play the moment well.

Absolutely. At the same time, it's perfect/fitting that she got to be the one to bring the curtain down on a never again era/mentality/je ne sais quoi of soaps.

It’s not Rod Arrants as Sam.

But Adam Storke (ex-Ryder) and Larkin Malloy (ex-Sky, EON) are in the airport scenes.

The reconciliation of Estelle and TR (why she calls her daughter Rebecca “Theresa (Regina)” is odd though) is quite touching. Jane was wonderful on the show.

I always liked Louan and felt that she just got (hair)styled a bit too matronly as Liza compared to Sherry. It didn’t help that Patti hijacked Hogan. Sunny’s happing ending should’ve been with Hogan.

Thanks. I didn't realize Larkin and Adam were there. Not sure why they even killed off Ryder. I guess Larkin was done with GL by this point.

I do wonder how fans at the end even felt about Patti, especially her just coming in and taking stories of established characters. Patti hadn't been important to the show for a decade or more.

The casting for Patti was all wrong, and she was almost a generation younger than the character should have been.  Plus, bringing her back to Henderson alone with none of her children seemed a waste.  Having Patti return to the show was a generally good idea, but the execution was horrible.

I could be wrong, but I think he still was with GL.  He only appeared in SFT's final episode, because much of the crew there had also worked on EON in the same studio (EUE/Screen Gems).

And then giving her a daughter who was killed off before her arrival (was there ever much mention of that?).

Thanks. I always get confused about just when Larkin left GL.
