ITA. Women on the soaps, especially on ABC, get no or little leeway when it comes to weight gain, while the men get pack on the pounds. MEK is another AMC actor who has packed on the pounds and no one has said apparently anything. Tyler Christopher looks the Pillsbury Dough Boy and is still on the front burner. No way could any of the GH actresses get away with that.

Yup.

Posting endlessly (and pseudo-poetically?) about a "gut" lost its novelty and "humor" (if we want to call it that) long ago. Second, I think it's absolutely hilarious that posts are being made like that here, on the Soap Opera Network (and the posts seem to have generated so many laughs!) because lord knows this board's notoriously oversensitive posters get their undies in a twist about "ageism" at the feet of Brian Frons ALL THE TIME. We seem to constantly wonder and whine why people like "old and matronly" Erika Slezak get pushed to the backburner while model after model is cast on every show. Is it any wonder why networks do this, given the apparent shallowness of its viewers? Why, that shallowness can be found right here on these forums! It seems like physical appearance DOES mean a lot to this boards' posters, as they sure waste enough energy commenting and critiquing them and going on endlessly about a damned "gut."

Not my point, but as an aside: hell, if I was 50 years old, and a man, I'd be thanking the Sweet Lord Jesus everyday if I looked as good as VI does now, at that age.

I have no issue with him. But can I say why is it that the women gain a few pounds and the network is all over them(Genie Francis come to mind) yet men can gain and never have to face anything. VI is good looking but he's one. Michael Knight is another. Go over to OLTL or GH and take a look at some of those men. Steve Burton is a travesty although he's better than he was. I find the restrictions on the actresses and not the actors very insulting.

You seem to think I am advocating the firing of the gut. Nothing could be further from the truth. The gut is clearly a valued, integral member of the cast, a prime mover and shaker in story. There's no critiquing of the gut here. But what I find amusing is that David (and Tad) are consistently presented as powerful or at least virile manly males who everyone must either trumpet or cower from, and well, the visual hasn't added up to the pose of late. I've just watched the gut grow and grow in stature and attitude, and it's the most noticeable thing about Irizarry to me at this point. Whenever David begins yammering on about how the Martins will pay this time, all I can think about is, 'what is the gut's motivation in this scene?' It really cuts down on the menace.

In short, get over it, it's a joke.

I'm not getting my panties in a twist because I found the "gut" comments so inane I chose to ignore them to be quite frank. I guess if I gave it much thought I'd find them slightly offensive, but I just chose to scroll.

Shouldn't that be gut over it?

Running will not save you, the gut follows you wherever you go. It watches from every angle, like the Mona Lisa. It's a mobius loop of revenge against Pine Valley.

I'm surprised that noone mentioned the new script writer today - James Kahn. R! What'd you think?

I actually thought it was a pretty good script. Maybe it was helped by some good direction, but overall, I enjoyed the episode.

Yes, I actually thought the script was pretty good. Especially the scene with Krystal, Liza, Tad, Amanda and Mabe McGrimace. I liked the dialogue in that scene.

Ryanica.

Kendall finally "remembering" she didn't shoot Stuart? Give me a break. She never remembered that she shot him in the first place.
