It seems like everyone is keen on destroying daytime for good.

All current soap opera headwriters (maybe there's an exception there) are doing a damn fine job at driving away what's little left of the audience.

Nobody sees daytime as viable or is willing to invest in it anymore. Maybe the era is just done like dinner. Maybe it's similar to the whole "Baby-boomer phenomenon", when they're all gone, who will watch the soaps?

I think this is generation endgame!

This mini-storyline about the boardseat doesn't even seem to be about "Colleen." It's more Jack and now Billy manipulating the situation, brainwashing Colleen, and using her to get back at Victor. Colleen is just a front, and since they don't write for the character anyway, they don't want to give her any type of personality. Tammin is miscast IMO, but the writing fails her more than anything else.

We're now to believe that this boardseat is so important to Colleen, when it used to be art history, and that was only a few years ago. Is Colleen even still studying art history? They've neglected this character for so long, still use her pretty scarcely, and like most other characters, she lacks anything resembling a personality.

Not to mention, her own aunt Ashley doesn't even seem to know who she is and what she's up to these days.

Forgetting that they delayed this mini-story because of Tammin's film schedule a few times and I perceive Tammin to be a crap actress and very miscast, this story was destined to fail, IMO.

I think she knows she wasn't a great mother to Billy, goodness knows he told her this enough when David Tom was in the role, but there's nothing she can do about that now. Her supporting Cane doesn't make her love Billy any less. Billy just needs everyone to only care about him, yet at the same time, he needs people like Jill to remember that they are why he's not some great person with a happy life. He wants it both ways. That's one of the reasons he seems to focus more on that element on his life than on the Abbotts, who did try to be there for him and whom he was much closer to when he was younger. He doesn't care about his family until he can come in and grimace on their behalf, long after it would have done them any good. I think Billy should worry more about being a good father to his own daughter.

I'm so tired of the Abbotts these days. I never needed to see a return to the big breakfasts, but the long periods of absolutely no interest in each other (like everyone and Ashley) or the sudden interest only when it suits their goals (like Billy with this board seat) annoy me even more.
