June 20, 200916 yr Member I think Y&R could eventually have a malevolent gay male character, but a Victor, who the show sees as usually in the right, as a good guy underneath, as a complex man you have to love and understand -- that would be a real test for them. The thing I love about Victor is that he's always coming from a place of power. How many times have we heard him yell "I don't give a damn!" when someone tries to oppose him? It's Victor's world and everyone else is just living in it. I love that, and it's the kind of character I'd love Adam to be. If he doesn't evolve into that, I feel a legacy character has been wasted because let's face it, Vikki, Nick and Abby can't do it. And Chris Keller is a great example. I'd love Adam to be bi and use everyone and everything in his ruthless pursuit of power. All the while not giving a damn what anyone has to say about it.

Victor's truest heir SHOULD have been Victoria. Sigh.
June 20, 200916 yr Member Victor's truest heir SHOULD have been Victoria. Sigh. Well, that is a fact and it made complete sense. Victor has not been subtle about his sexism. That is what brought about the competitiveness in Victoria. She's had to fight for power, while Nick has had it handed to him. Now we have a Victoria that is happy with being Daddy's little girl, instead of HBIC. It sucks! For awhile it seemed like Adam would bring out the fighter in Vicky when he was trying to usurp her position, but it didn't work out the way it should have. I would have loved to see those two go up against each other for years.

Same here--instead they chose to waste the longtime storyline potential for Adam and make him into a horrific monster for shock value only.

June 21, 200916 yr Member Amen. What TPTB have done to Victoria is criminal. SO MUCH WORD! I stilll remember Victoria slapping Victor over him bribing Diego to leave her. How the hell did we get from that strong ass woman who didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about slapping her father to this bland ass character.

June 22, 200916 yr Member The problem isn't about Adam pretending to be gay in order to keep Rafe's mouth shut. It is the fact that upstanding lawyer Rafe would turn a blind eye to what Ash and his aunt had been through just for a swing on the Newman peen.

It is the fact that upstanding lawyer Rafe would turn a blind eye to what Ash and his aunt had been through just for a swing on the Newman peen. This show doesn't have any sense of what professional ethics are. Just recently, we've had a sexual predator for a doctor that's been blackmailed, and a DNA specialist who falsified many DNA results. This show just makes it so easy to hate on it these days.
June 22, 200916 yr Member They haven't even built a strong friendship for Rafe and Adam so I don't understand how they can end up in bed in one week. I have no problem with one night stands, but this is different for several reasons...one being Adam being presented as straight with no hints to anything otherwise and how can Rafe sleep with him with the suspicion that he's framing his aunt? It's ridiculous. Plus, since this hasn't been foreshadowed at all, if it's a last minute plan for Adam, how could a straight man instantly jump into sleeping with a man? I do think the actual twist could be fascinating, but the story is too complex for this writing style. Bill Bell's more in depth, character driven pacing would've served this twist well. I could see it working with someone like David Kimball.

LMAO you're going to get me in trouble at work for laughing so loud and so much. IAWTC so much!
June 22, 200916 yr Member What's plot driven is not Adam killing or baby or sleeping with Rafe, but the fact that Adam is the kind of character who will do ANYTHING and has NO limits. The more spoilers I read about Adam, the more I come to realize that perhaps CE was uncomfortable about his character's direction rather than just the roll in the sack with Rafe. I mean for Christ sake, the guy has been revealed to be using and tormenting all those around him from Heather, to a pregnant Ashley, and now even Rafe. He doesn't appear to have any limits whatsoever, not one person seems to be alive in Genoa City that Adam would truly say to himself "Hey I wouldn't do this to this person because I truly care for them." Is Victor's love and admiration that important? Geez even the Victor propping is ever so present in this storyline. Would Victor even do the same? It's like saying that Victor would either gaslight Katherine or [!@#$%^&*] her just to further his overall scheme. So for those of you who are saying "He's just like Victor." No he's not, he's far worse. The whole "Daddy doesn't love me." excuse is no longer valid and can no longer garner sympathy in my eyes, even though Nick and Victoria were truly stuck brats to him.
June 23, 200916 yr Member I think they're trying to downplay any relationship between Adam and Rafe because then they think everyone will be more shocked. This is also a way to make sure viewers aren't that invested, so they won't be put off with how Adam will probably treat Rafe. Both Rafe and Heather are such minor characters, Adam can do what he wants to them and most viewers probably won't care.
