Members Y&RWorldTurner
It's really pathetic the condition this show is in. I want to go blind whenever Nelson or someone says this show resembles its glory days. PLEASE. It's all hyper sensationalistic plots with no substance. Members dm.
For awhile there, it was good. It did resemble to a good old Y&R, but you can't hold onto that for long. Sooner or later you have to come up with new stuff, and sadly this just doesn't work as good as it should. There is something missing there. That substance. But once those reporters and fans start raving about the show, it's obvious that they won't let it go so soon. They'll hold onto that glory days stuff until the show become just that bad. It hasn't reached that point yet, IMO, it's somewhere in the middle, but it ain't lookin' good.
Members Sylph
If only it were! It attempts to do that, but my, my do I wish someone to cook up buckets of trashy, racy, 'scandalous' stories and make things sizzles... Tons of intrigues, genuine triangles and quadrangles and lots of good, to-die-for business scheming and machinations.
Members dm.
Y&R won't get a business storyline under this regime. Never! We haven't had a good business storyline for a loooooooong time. MAB doesn't know (or doesn't care) to write for that.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Yes, this show needs to get back to its trashy and flashy roots, and the corporate intrigue aspect is a MUST.
Members Sylph
But definitely not and bloody boring "triangles" and tons of sleepwalking, useless characters.
Members Heyou
YRWT... I think I love you! I couldn't agree more! That's why AL was a great fit as Colleen; she was soft spoken like her mother and could be bitchy when needed like her sleezeball father. God I miss her! Agreed! Why in the hell do they keep so many actors on their payroll when they aren't delivering? We all have a probationary period when we start jobs and if we don't do it justice there is always someone willing to fill your shoes especially in this economic time. Why should actors be exempt from this; it's not a popularity contest and there are plenty actors out of work right now. I'm on board for this! Members Y&RWorldTurner
Ugh, of course not. This sh!t is so bad. I hate when we're supposed to judge this show right now to other soaps or to past regimes to make it seem good. I like looking at the show by itself, and right now, it's just bad. I could stop watching, but I won't, it's one of my shows...
Members MarkH
Didn't you say Sheila and all that sh!t was Sally Sussman Morina's fault, foisted on Smith? Or am I confabulating? Honestly...I thought the ACTOR (not the character) was among the more engaging introductions during LML's regime. I realize that is a relative statement. Ji Min Kim was better. I LOATHED Adrian Korbel. Almost as much as Brittany. The plot is sh!t. But the actor is okay, IMO. But I wouldn't miss him either. Think about last November. Think about last August. The period in between wasn't shabby either. Even now, the problem is more the sensationalism of the plots. But the actors, the technical aspects...all mostly viewed as terrific. (With the noteworthy exceptions we keep bringing up). There is much hope here, and that's not just me being optimistic. They just need to dial back on some of the sensationalism. The biggest problem is putting on a back-from-the dead, kitty-stuffing plastic surgery legacy character, and botox-in-eyeball-injecting-baby-burning prodigal son all at the same time. Moreover, the fact that all three stories damage members of core families (Chancellors, Williams and Newmans respectively) is causing all this concern. I'm thinking "summer of 1979". Short term. Drive up the ratings, then get back to normal.
Members Cheap21
My hate for her was equivalent for my hate for Olivia but as much as I want to, Im just not hating Nina here. I think I will like her more especially when Phillip and her son return and when she exposes that snake Cole. Plus her, putting Jill, who's been an incredibly annoying bitch lately, in her place is a major plus
