This needs to be the end for Cane, let's not put it out into the universe that those he scammed will forgive him, please....

My what-ever would they do with Lily. The Laners would rush CBS studios in protest. Honestly I don't see any indication that TPTB keep these two otherwise useless characters on with any other interests than that fanbase. Throw them a bone with their disgusting fawning and what-ever the actors pass of as longing for each other and you have the depth of their stories and abilities or lack of

Moving on..... I hope these writers can spare me trying to make Phyllis as messed up as Sharon seems to be without Nick. They already are trying to force a messed up Jack on us. Phyllis is dysfunctional all on her own please do not try to define Nick as the reason I just do not buy it

Adam's plastic gloves are CREEPY. They reminds of the white gloves worn by the psycho boys in the very psycho Funny Games.

Whatever happened to Clear Springs? Did Victor build condos on it or something?

Worst movie EVER. I get that the director hates us all, and wants to show us how evil torture-porn is. I get it. But ugh.

Wasn't Clear Springs a writeoff because of all that meeee-thane gas underneath it?

ETA: More importantly, what the hell ever happened to NVP? Beauty of Nature? Tuvia? Saffra? Jabot Junior?

I can handle some dark as long as there is balance. Sheila poisoning Lauren was dark, but that was also when Lauren and Michael had plenty of romance which is a big reason I watch soaps. I love character driven stories, romance, and family interaction. I also have enjoyed many of the business stories when they involve many characters.

I used to also love Nikki and Victor and Jack and Phyllis. Now Nikki looks to be gone and Jack and Phyllis have just become punching bags in this neverending quad. Phick sucked away much of my Phyllis love although I am starting to like her more and Jack is on and off with me depending on how he is written but his crying over Sharon and bedhopping is not the Jack I enjoy.

I used to watch for the whole show, but I have found for me that when my favorites are completely missing I can't enjoy other characters as much as I typically do because in my head I am looking for my favorites. And they don't even have to be having a big story. I just need to see them once a week or know that they will have some story in the future.

But when you combine the fact that my favorites are off for a month or so at a time with the fact that most stories are dark, then this show just isn't being written for me in any way.

Yeah a lot of soap fans have their fav characters it seems. Some also like the romances. I guess I don't care for a particular type of story, or a particular character. I just like the stories themselves. I happen to like the twisted quad, Patty Jane, Phillip returns and Adam's craziness. I guess I just don't get attached to a certain type of story. I can't stand the Winters s/l's and have said so since I've posted here. This new art story, while fast-paced seems so out of place. i guess it's all about taste. I can eat steak all week and the next I can have just chicken and be very happy if it's cooked well. LOL!

Not sure if the worst movie ever, but yeah it sucked and it was painful to watch -- in more ways than one. The boys & their gloves were creepy though.

There's a Jabot Junior? I don't even remember that.

I'm seriously interested, though...how would you do this? I get the "tone" part. That just requires more of a mix of stories.

But what do you mean about "pacing"?

Lay out motivations clearly. Set a story up with beats to play at the right time. There are some stories which apparently haven't played out the way they could have because of contractual issues (I will give Y&R the benefit of the doubt that this is why the Kay/Jill non-mother reveal and aftermath were so poorly handled), but other stories, they could have benefited from a much clearer focus. Stuff like Sharon magically getting over her klepto phase. Chloe inexplicably driving off to a mountain cabin while near her due date, the rushed moments where Billy told everyone he was the father, etc. And all this with Mac's return, they could have waited a few more months and showed all her emotions while building up Billy's frustration as a husband as a father, all of this before she almost jumped Billy.

I still miss Brash and Sassy. :(

Just hearing Heather Tom utter "Brash and Sassy" feels like good times.

I think the problem is that it's too difficult to carefully plot out 5 hours a week. The ideal, though impossible answer, is to split Y&R into two 1/2 hour shows. One show that's just Newmans & Abbotts (like B&B is Forresters/Logans) and one show that's Chancellors, Winters, Scoobies and the rest. The N&A show could be all dark, twisty, gothic and kinda pervy. The Chancellor/Scooby show could be optimistic, heart-felt, hopeful, light. Then again, Cashton & others like the sweet and the sour. Some of us though have been spoiled by all the niche broadcasting out there and want our shows to be all one tone. I love my How I Met Your Mother and I love my Mad Men but I would hate to see them mashed up together into one show .

And balance the darkness & bed hopping with romance & friendship.

Cane & Lily don't count!

Actually, now that I think of it, it was Junior Jabot. And...wait for it...that was the raison d'etre for Cricket to become a famous model! She was the Junior Jabot spokesgirl.

I don't think the klepto is over. It was stated that she does this in spells. And the spells spontaneously recover. But the girl walked out of therapy.

She'll be stealing big-time again some day in the future.

Okay.

I can't say I agree  . But I'd rather hear "Brash and Sassy" a MILLION TIMES before I hear "the Terroni forgery!" or "JT, hand me a glue stick so I can convincingly reproduce a medieval Reliquary in the comfort of our hotel room".

Now you are sounding like Christopher Goutman. He made a comment similar to this about ATWT. The man is an idiot. If anyone thinks Y&R is awful you should have checked out ATWT today. It was atricious!

Btw....the idiot part doesn't refer to you cara mia. ;)

Could we get some better writers that know how to write business stories please? <_<

The professional element of this show is lacking so badly. This Restles Style cover crisis they go through every f.ucking month doesn't count.
