NB reports that Sean Kanan is indeed joining the cast of The Young and the Restless in the role of Deacon Sharpe, and will be involved in one of the ongoing storylines.

Agreed on both counts. If the right Rick were there, he also has a history with Ashley.

It's almost as if whenever MAB doesn't know what to do with a character or a storyline, she adds a character, without writing off another. How many characters are there who are in Deacon's age range? Cane, Billy, Adam, Nick, to name a few.
