Again, her job is to act, no matter how little or bad the material is. She was hired to bring life to the material, not show her unhappiness with it on screen. Look at Maura West at ATWT, they've been feeding her the same nonsense material for the past 11 years or so, and not one day can I say she doesn't give it her all. She brings her heart and soul to the hallow and over-done material they give her, Stafford didn't do that in 2008 and 2009. If she wanted a challenge, you would think attempting to bring life to the crappy material would be MORE than enough for her. I have no defense for her crummy acting over the two previous years.

It's hard to take you seriously when I perceive you to come off as a mega-Phick fan that hates Sharon and Sharon Case...

I personally can't say Case phoned anything in over the past 4 years, Stafford on the other hand? Hell yes.

CK doesn't even try; she looks like she is having hard time whenever she has to play a tough scene; she feels a million times easier just hanging out and playing cute. If she doesn't feel like giving her all, she should just leave. She did it before.

It seems a lot of the fanbases can't separate their hate of the character from the actors that portray them.

Case is one of the few actors I can say really gave it her all during the Latham era. She did wonders with the material Latham fed her, so did Melody Thomas Scott on an acting-level.

SC and CK aren't even on the same level.

I personally don't understand how one can defend Morrow's acting and then give Case a backhanded compliment or an outright bash for her's. How is she any less "limited" than Morrow?

Case has had amazing growth as an actress since she first started on this show, Morrow might have had some growth, but it wasn't as deep or as noticeable as Case's.

Stafford started off as a pretty crummy actress too, but she grew and developed. Bill Bell and Ed Scott even spoke of this in an interview with SOD in 1997. Bell said he was sad to see her depart for that flop Spelling show, but he was proud of the growth she achieved as an actress, since she was so green when she first started.

I had no idea that my sole opinion had the power to screw over "the good old fashioned soap heroine" and determine the roles that soap actresses take. Who knew? Don't worry, MarkH, the love for the soap vixen and sharp witted soap heroine has always been in the minority. St. Mac and Lily have got you, MAB and the rest of the audience. You all will be happy together. Just stay away from Chloe.

That's an interesting observation. I think you are right. CK may simply be relying on her natural "cuteness", rather than actually acting.

Yes, I agree. While there are probably stronger actresses than SC, she has really delivered repeatedly over the years. I thought she was fine during the Cameron Kirsten story. I thought she (actually EVERY Newman with the possible exception of Heinle) was remarkable throughout the entire Cassie death arc. I believe now, during this breakdown story, she is doing the work of her career.

Actually, it was a more general observation, Ann_SS, and I wasn't actually disagreeing with you--just drawing a general inference. I think your observation is actually in the majority! Think how hated Lauralee's Christine is/was (for a variety of reasons). I think these shows continue to try to give us the traditional 'innocent vinctim heroine'...but I don't think she's very appealing to the audience anymore. I think the "sharp witted soap heroine" would be much more popular.

THAT SAID, and I very much like EH as Chloe...would you call her a "heroine"? That label doesn't seem to apply to her, for me. But if you do think she's a heroine, I wonder when she became that for you?
