June 8, 200916 yr Member This may have been discussed already and I missed it but the talk of her pay in this doesn't make sense if you believe all of Nelson's report. He says in Friday's Suds Report that Y&R wants her to go recurring. Salary and stuff won't matter at all if she goes recurring. There won't be a contract. It is just up to her agreeing to go recurring and being paid and used just when Y&R needs her. So basically they were giving her two options. If she wants to keep her current pay then she has to go to recurring. If that happens, I doubt we will hardly ever see Nikki. And if they are even thinking recurring status is possible, that means to me that there is no real story planned for Mel in the near future. That's pretty interesting. Does that mean they would make Doug Davidson recurring too when his contract ends or a cycle ends? I mean if they made her recurring and not the actor portraying the character her character is involved with, that's a pretty big slap in the face. Especially since Paul hasn't been used nearly as much as Nikki in like 5 years.

It is so clear his character has been marginalized so that they don't have to pay this once-marquee player too much.
June 23, 200916 yr Member According to the latest TVGUIDE, she's staying. This is great news. I wonder which side caved?
June 23, 200916 yr Member I hope this will be the start of a great new run for Nikki. MTS is one of the most unique and watchable actresses I've ever seen on soap, Nikki is an irreplaceable character, and I'm glad they were able to work this out.
June 23, 200916 yr Member odd that its not on tv guides website tho. they usually just post the same thing, dotn they?
June 23, 200916 yr Member odd that its not on tv guides website tho. they usually just post the same thing, dotn they? Sometimes, not all the time, and it could take a few days for them if they do post it online. I wonder if bumping to recurring/firing Eva Marcille and Vail Bloom went into paying to keep Melody. If so, wise choice, IMO.

Oh, I read it at The Envelope, and someone posted about it at Sony. So I'm guessing she's staying? Good! I wonder if bumping to recurring/firing Eva Marcille and Vail Bloom went into paying to keep Melody. If so, wise choice, IMO. THAT HAD TO BE WHAT IT WAS. That could not have been a coincidence. Thank you so much for being on top of this and posting it this morning, Y&RWorldTurner. id like to see someone type it up or post it tho, where did the news come from? i just dont want eveyrone to get all excited and then... nothing, lol. that would suck. i hope its tru tho, what i hope isnt true is that the show caved in. i hope they came to a mutual balance and made a deal. Please don't make me take my sunshine away LOL. I do agree that there was a give and give. But I don't even know why they had to go these lengths to keep her. It should not have taken this long. The second thing they should've done is put minor actresses and other actors on recurring. DUH!!! Oooh, I can't wait for the EB talks. "I'm Victor Newman and I do as I damn well please, I always have and I always will."
