Members Contessa Donatella
She's one of my favorite writers. Of course, that is a list of 15, so a lot. Basically I tell everyone to start with July 1987, when Anne Heche began.
Members Maxim
I may have to go back soon. I'm still not sure. I'm just enjoying 1989 A LOT. And of course, till recently... 1987 and 1988 were not that complete on Youtube - maybe 50 percent of episodes were available... and this past year Eddie Drueding has added literally hundreds of episodes... I was waiting for something like this to happen, since I didn't want to start without a steady base of episodes I could follow. I didn't want huge gaps that could spoil all the fun. 1987-1988 are nearly 90 percent complete. 1989 is currently being uploaded. I felt it was time to start watching.

Members Contessa Donatella
So, as an appreciative new viewer, tell me, what characters do you find most interesting?
Members Mona Kane Croft
Swajeski is probably in my top 5 AW head writers. My earlier post may have sounded very negative, but that's because I do see a lot of her faults. But I feel generally positive about her work. She did write complete plots (for the most part) with a beginning, middle, and an end -- which I appreciate. I think she needed more guidance from somebody, because she was very green and had some bad writing habits that could have used some critique. Maybe a more experienced co-head writer, or an executive story consultant with enough influence to guide her for a couple of years. And I agree, Ann Heche really brought some talent and fire to the younger cast. That woman could play anything and make it believable.
Members Maxim
I am obsessed with Iris. Watching her every move and the reason I started watching in the first place. She is easier for me to follow, since it's New Iris and as a new viewer it's like an episode 1 for me. I also like... Vicky/Marley... they are just soap opera gold and I can't imagine that there will be episodes in the future without Anne Heche. That level of acting is not matched even in primetime these days. I also like Rachel and am rooting for her against Iris, I like how warm she can be at one moment and complete ice in another. And I like Iris's borderline personality. That woman is a walking diagnosis. I like everyone else too, but the girls in the show are something else. (I've always gravitated towards female characters) I still have a lot of time to figure out past history and things that are still confusing me. P.S Iris reminds me a lot of my mother. The same pathologies... It just is like watching my own mother at some moments. Give me the creeps, but also is a true statement of how rich the writing and... how good the acting is.
Members Contessa Donatella
I'm glad you said this. Your previous comment IMO did sound negative. I just looked at my list of 15 & a whopping 7 once wrote at AW. Of course, I should not find that surprising. Phillips co-created it & then later she sent Nixon to it. Nixon, in turn, saved the show. She really was that adaptable. And, when you think about it, when she began she was only 18 years old. And, Anna Stuart realized quickly that she was very young & that she hadn't had much nurturing, so she stepped up. She mentored, nurtured, and she's said that many times Anne ate what she ate & what they had together in her dressing room. Yes, you're describing Rachel to a tee. What's confusing? I get the impression that you think Iris is a narcissist. I saw this line today that just blew me away. It read, "A narcissist will blame you for what they did."
Members slick jones
Does anyone know if Gil Fenton (Tom Wiggin) appeared past May 4, 1984? Did he say any good byes, or did he just disappear?
Members Maxim
I actually like the confusing... part... every soap I've gotten into... it's like slowly learning a new language - some characters take time to reveal who they are to me. That's what I mean. I lack knowing years and years of history, but slowly getting to know the intentions of the characters is a pleasure. Especially when the soap is as beautifully written, as Another World is. When I feel really bummed about what is going on and confuse names, I always open Eddie Drueding's site and manage to save myself. And yes, that quote describes my mother... and Iris too. Members AbcNbc247
I won’t spoil it for you, but you’re in for a real treat in the May 1st episode. How Carmen Duncan wasn’t even nominated for an Emmy is unbelievable.
