A fun little video. Although some of the details are off - like the expansion to an hour leading to Virginia Dwyer, George Reinholt and Jacqueline Courtney leaving. Some of the non Another World photos used were also an odd choice.

Thanks. The way the visual images don't seem to have any relationship to the commentary and the randomness of the commentary (not to mention pronunciations like "Jack I Courtney") gives me the impression that it was cobbled together using AI or something. It's a very weird experience trying to listen and watch at the same time!

That kind of mistake is a tip-off that it's AI, probably bad AI, as well.

Also he was so prolific. His credits go on & on & on some more. Primetime but more daytime too. He had roles on AMC, OLTL, GH, ATWT, maybe more.

If I'm not mistaken, Hogan also played Scott Banning (one of Julie's husbands) on DOOL.  The role of Scott was also played by Mike Farrell.  I'm unable to confirm this, and my statement is coming from memory.  So if I am incorrect, anyone feel free to correct me.

Hogan certainly had a great career, and seemed to easily move from daytime to primetime and back again many times.  It never seemed his daytime work harmed his ability to be cast in primetime series.  I really can't think of any other actor who worked on so many daytime dramas AND also such a long list of primetime series. Definitely a great example of a working actor.

IMDB.com does have (one of the) Scott Banning on DAYS '70-'71, 84 episodes. So hurray for your recall!

The January 6th 1989 episode is sooo good. I am screaming with excitement. I had no idea Vicky had slept with her sister's husband!

Robert Hogan was a good actor and presence, but I prefer what I've seen of Duke Stroud's Vince. He's more believable to me as the haunted patriarch.

I think both Hogan and Stroud were good actors but neither struck me as a particularly good match for Denise Alexander (though they were each a far sight better than John Considine in mustache-twirling mode).

Denise had a lot of chemistry with Chris Robinson on GH but the writers obviously weren't interested in testing that at AW. That connection likely was not duplicable, anyway. I think she might have been dynamite with Doug Watson but that obviously wasn't going to happen -- though I wouldn't have been averse to another Rachel-Mac breakup, I'm not sure fans were in the mood for it.

I wonder what plans Sheri Anderson (?) would have had for the Jason/Mary pairing if she had stayed. It feels a bit like overegging the pudding having him there just as Reginald is on the way out and Vince is also around.

If they were going to commit to the pairing and have a more complex Jason, I might have had Vince die saving Mary and Donna, and Mary goes through a lot of grief and anger - maybe she even blames Michael and Donna and causes problem for them when Reginald leaves her a lot of his money (instead of everything going to Vicky), and we'd wonder if Jason is pursuing her out of love or because she's vulnerable and rich.

There were four actors who played Julie's first husband, Scott Banning: Robert Carraway (briefly), followed by the excellent Mike Farrell, then Robert Hogan, and finally Ryan MacDonald.

Carraway was first, but didn't last long. He wasn't terribly interesting. Mike Farrell was great: affable, warm, a truly endearing presence. Hogan was a solid actor and good in the role, but I had trouble accepting him after Farrell, who played the kind of decent and supportive husband Julie needed--even if she didn't know it at the time. Ryan MacDonald was okay, and the hunkiest of the lot. He made a splash appearing in Playgirl in the early 1970s, and was the final actor to play Scott when the character was killed off in 1973.

@Maxim, I forget, what is your policy on spoilers? I ask because I wanted to show you the "NBC Daytime Update" promos from early 1989, but I also don't want to take away any fun you're having from being surprised. I also think it's interesting that AW was apparently the only show to get those promos. Looking back, it feels like an insult, that NBC was a-ok with jamming in as much recapping as possible.

Thank you for asking me this. So sweet of you to think of not wanting to spoil it for me. I will answer like this - I would prefer not to see them at least till I get pass that period. But I don't want to trigger people by saying this. There are going to come up from somewhere telling me how I should not ask people to not post spoilers. I am not asking this of anyone. If you do post them... I'll know in advance not to look and I'll be forever grateful for you for giving me a heads up. ❤️

Jake was Victoria's boyfriend when they first came to Bay City. And there are a whole lot of details that lead to Jake falling in love with her twin instead.

Oh I didn't know that. Now everything makes sense. Thank you for telling me. ❤️

Ah, gotcha. I'll wait until the conclusion, then.

Jake & Vicky went through times when they were lovers & times when they were best friends & I'm not going to continue because I don't want to spoil future them for you. But, they came to Bay City together as partners in a plot to get revenge on Marley for having this privileged life Victoria was denied. Of course, Marley grew up thinking she was Donna's younger sister, not daughter, so Jake & Vicky didn't know what all they didn't know!!!! If you tell someone about the future it's a spoiler. If you tell someone about the past, which is what I just did, does it have a name? I guess it's recapping.
