i actually said that it could be Abby in earlier posts (i've been a total Y&R soap-board whore today)! i would love it cause it would show she's got dark roots too like Victor and not just mini-Paris Hilton. Ashley also wondered if Victor could ever turn on abby like he did with Adam. But...it'd be a huge leap for her to take and i don't think the actress has the chops to do a big reveal like that (I know, neither does TS but..). Plus could Abby really make her mother go crazy and hurt her unborn sibling? Adam - yes. i'd be tempted to guess Gloria, but she's not THAT stupid, tho if you read the spoilers she gets pretty close next week.

I think I figured out Heather--at least where Kevin is concerned. (And maybe even Adam, when she threw the book at him).

Heather looks at Kevin and says "This guy had a very similar upbringing as me. Kevin's dad slapped him around and threw him in the closet. My stepfather slapped my mother around--enough that she had to kill him to avoid our being killed. Kevin grew up without protective sibs or a father figure for much of his childhood...me too."

And then Heather looks at herself and says "But look at me. I worked through that. I channeled that into a drive to succeeed...I earned my way through Princeton. I became a law-and-order girl to right the injustices of the world".

In other words, Heather's hard shell is her defensive, self-protective layer...because she was so badly hurt as a girl. She has eshewed weakness, and her sanctimoniousness ("look at what I achieved") is an offshoot of how hard she pushed herself to get to this point.

So, she looks at Kevin, and she sees weakness. She feels he should have overcome his past, as she feels she did.

Of course what we, as viewers, can see, is that Heather has no more escaped her past than Kevin has. Maybe she is not catatonic or a firebug. But she is aloof, socially inept, judgmental, and (like her mother) she still makes bad choices where men are concerned. She's *JUST* as damaged as Kevin...just differently...and she doesn't know it.

But where is this hard shell on the outside with a vulnerable side underneath? I have yet to see it on my screen. It is up to the writers to show this for me, not fans on a message board.

I agree. I get what MarkH is saying, but I haven't seen any evidence of that on my screen at all, none of that in Vail's performances.

Oh now that I didn't know either! It's going to be really interesting to see if how they inform the audience of Patty's past. They can't use Jack flashback's cause Terry Lester was playing Jack then, right? And, minus Jack, they could show flashbacks of Patty, but which one would they show? Andrea Evan's Patty or Lilbet Stern's. i think a story like this REALLY needs flashbacks.

Why can't we have dialogue flashbacks? Or partial memory flashbacks where the faces and voices sort of shadowed to hide different actors. We have the technology now, despite what they claim with the main credits.

I guess we have to define what a hard shell is. She's pretty tenacious and heartless when it comes to pursuing "justice".

U know what - that f'in brills! MAB/Rauch could really create a unique flashback sequence with cool visuals like that. But there's the risk of...cheese. if I were an EP - i know, ha! - I'd be a little lerry of trying new techniques like that cause you never know how the end-process will look. Classy or cheesy...but that's a route they could go for sure. This s/l NEEDS flashbacks!!

HAHA! Gosh - you really do hate Sharon if you want her with Victor! i don't see Sharon and Victor becoming lovers for a long time. but you know it'll happen one day.

But when Victor finds out MJ hurt Sharon, coinciding with Nick finding out, Victor's truly going to want to be back in Mexico getting drunk.

Victor in Mexico getting drunk, lets make that a drinking game.

And I didn't even think about Sharon and Victor until Sharon Case said she and Eric both want to work together in that capacity again, uggh.
