Good! There is some hope left.

Thank God for that! Why in the world should we have a moment of silence for him? Charlie Kirk meant nothing to us here in Europe.

How embarrassing! The person who requested this was Swedish!  😳

I feel sorry for his immediate family, and I don't condone political violence, but when you read a quote like this from him you can't help but feel that there is such a thing as karma.

Quote

On Gun control: In 2023, Kirk said that gun deaths were "worth it" to ensure the preservation of Second Amendment rights in the US-- which is the right to keep and bear arms.

"It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights...That is a prudent deal," he said during an appearance at the Salt Lake City campus of Awaken Church on April 5, 2023.

Not remotely what I said, but you already knew that. You can either speak to my points (which you had no answer for, from Kirk to Twitter/Bsky) or stan for Gavin Newsom, but you won't be doing the latter in my replies.

My whole point - which I thought you comprehended - was Newsom's statement was classy, and its goal of preventing future violence would have been diluted by taking a swipe at Mr. Kirk.

As for Kirk's beliefs, I never defended them, so don't know what you want from me here.

Re: Bluesky v Twitter. On Twitter I mostly read the feeds of moderate pundits or sports writers on there so I'm not exposed to the most cesspool others see. When I venture onto Bsky, it seems to be almost all chalk full of election losing recipes.

Now as for Newsom himself: Is he a weather vane positioning himself for the 2028 primary/general? Yes. But far less egregious than Harris leading up to the 2020 primaries (which ironically destroyed her chances in 2024).

I think Newsom's statement could've been classy without pretending Kirk was something he wasn't or didn't espouse hate every single day. That's the problem with most of these Dem statements out today. Willful blinders. Pritzer handled it right.

Harris didn't break bread with a bunch of alt right chuds who flirt with white supremacy and push anti-trans talking points. That's the difference. There were a lot of factors that went into the loss, but Newsom will never be the nominee (no matter how badly he wants to be) because of who he keeps company with.

And yeah, the mob of disturbed people who are acting like this was the second coming of Christ are already spreading unspeakable hate against all kinds of minorities and communities and blaming them without an ounce of logic to it. But hey... it's not like this is any different for them. Just a regular day. Just now... they have more pathos to it.

So now we know who the shooter is and this is a case of Nazi on Nazi crime. The right wingers are killing each other which makes perfect sense because that's how cults work but now that they can't blame the usual suspects I expect most of this stuff to die down after the monster's funeral. I hope the shooter takes a plea because a trial will be the biggest circus in the world.

That was my suspicion in the first place.

That was my suspicion as well.  As much as the GOP would love to pin this on the left and get the rest of the country riled up against the Democrats, the truth is, we're not crazy enough to stoop so low, no matter HOW repulsed we are by Kirk and his ilk.

There's just a lot of internecine warfare and cliquism in the online right. A lot of them hate each other and clout chase and command legions of incel stans. I wasn't shocked one took a shot at him.

I think a certain daytime show or two (especially now when I saw who supports who)... should cast her in a supporting role after this. Such a performance. Not enough for primetime though.

Perfect. Everything around this is such a performance. I really wonder how this is landing with normie offline voters.
