Yeah, but Texas, for some reason, loves to keep voting against their own interests. As much as I wish Allred could pull an upset, I see Cruz easily winning again. And then the bitching from some Texans will continue, even as they are the ones that will usher him back in.

It's political Stockholm Syndrome.

Texas does seem to be fool's gold. I think Cruz will not lose with Trump on the ticket, but I hope he does. Hopefully Cruz will underperform polling the way he did in 2018.

Nevada is another state where polling is often off, but in favor of Democrats. Hopefully that will be the case this year as it seems to be a dead heat (some Culinary Union person said last week that if the election was held that day, Trump would win).

An interesting article on the history of Nebraska's separate electoral vote.

Texas is like my home state (OK): in both cases, you're fighting against generations of deeply ingrained, ultra-conservative thinking from people who resent liberals, whom they perceive as looking down at them.  More often than not, they'll knowingly vote against their own interests, because it's more important to them to put liberals in their places.  (As I've said before in this thread, Democrats do pretty well in OKC and Tulsa, but once we head into the smaller towns, we're officially dead in the water.  I suspect a similar scenario always happens in TX as well.)

I'm not saying liberals can't make inroads in TX and "turn TX blue," but I think it'd take a different sort of strategy than what most left-leaning politicians are used to.

Texas also seems to have issues (and I suppose this is also true for OK) where many of the people who move there are hatemongers, swamping even those who were born in the state. IIRC exit polls (whatever those are worth) from the 2018 Senate race had Beto O'Rourke winning votes of people who were native Texans, and Cruz won transplants. There's a reason why scum like Elon and Joe Rogan and all his creepy cronies are flocking in.

Trump is lucky that thanks to decades of free media and the whole machismo facade, a lot of people seem to shrug this stupidity off.

Harris campaign struggles in Pennsylvania and Michigan (a number of people have pointed out the usual agendas in these types of pieces - and one of the Michigan politicians complaining is tied to Kwame Kilpatrick).

I saw the Semafor version of that same PA piece. It was reaching, the typical off-record Dem bedwetting.

The Baier interview seems to have gone well according to mainstream media punditry - Baier was aggressive and so was she. Here's the whole thing, plus some clips:

David Plouffe's tweet seemed so oddly defensive that I was not sure how the interview went, so I'm glad if it was received well. I do think her legal background makes her more at home in confrontational interviews than friendly outlets (and some like Colbert have odd vibes that flare up even in friendly settings), even if it's a double-edged sword to go on Faux (if she's trying to appeal to Republican voters, some may respect her move, while others may just side with Baier and think she wasn't subservient enough).

There's always going to be spin in either direction - if you ask the Trump campaign it's all about how it's a total disaster, etc. But the mainstream media pundits seems pleased with her going on there and holding strong, as do many or our side. I do think there are more viewers to peel off and penetrate from in that bubble, and Fox cut the interview short. I also think she does better aggressive than trying to play soft.

I'm so anxious that I just wish November 5th would just get here, and let the chips fall where they may. You know?

Still, I have already done my part and voted a straight-blue ballot. I can only hope and pray enough other voters do the same.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
