Like I said before, I'm sure the media will find some skeleton in Tim Walz's closet.  (They already have with the past DUI arrest, but that doesn't seem to be "sticking" thus far).  But, short of learning he once killed a man*, or groped a bunch of cheerleaders at a pep rally, I think - or at least I hope - voters will stick with him, and with Kamala Harris, because what he has done to turn the tide in this election in such a short period of time is remarkable.

(*And even if that happens, I'll be the first to say, "So, the gun went off.")

I seriously resent people who drive while intoxicated. It's just so selfish. What better way to show you don't GAF about anyone else's life. However, Walz made a mistake and then actively changed his ways and got sober. What else can you ask from people, but to learn and change? It just makes me like him more, tbh.

Israeli finance minister says it might be justified and moral to starve two million people in order to free the hostages.

Thu 8 Aug 2024

The EU, France and UK have condemned comments from Israel’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he said “no one in the world will allow us to starve two million people, even though it might be justified and moral in order to free the hostages”, comments which have sparked international outrage.

I've seen that look and heard that tone so many times from my own mother (a Black woman).  All she needed to do was quote Millie Jackson - "Go! Follow your rainbow!" - and I would've been GONE.

My friends and I were getting our absolute lives talking about that rally clip. The Black woman jumped out!🤣 And that stare and neck turn is straight outta the West Indies!🤭 Don’t mess with this woman. My mom, an expert practitioner of the long stare and the quick neck snap (although she also adds a kiss of teeth, for good measure) was quite impressed with this display of no nonsense from the VP.

I know, it's Morning Joe but this is the earliest link for this WP piece:

WaPo: Pelosi discusses Biden's exit and says he did not have a path to victory. (Non-paywalled) It is pretty candid.

“My goal in life was that that man would never set foot in the White House again,” she said of Trump, pounding the table nine times for emphasis and to explain why she acted. She added that she couldn’t stand to see “an unfolding of events that were just putting rose petals in front of him to go there.”

To be clear, this means these states have gone from Republican-leaning to toss-up, not vice versa.

Something is happening, is all I'll say about this latest stuff. And I am pleased to see mainstream media starting to openly discuss on television more and more just where the hell Trump is and why he is not campaigning. If you poke around the MAGA corners of online even they are starting to ask as panic grows among the slightly more rational members.

...And now: Trump announces he will be doing a 2 PM press conference at (where else) Mar-a-Lago.

So, someone, I think it was Trump, criticized Harris for her laugh, and now apparently Fox News had opinions about how Tim Walz waves and hugs.... ??!!

I didn't think they could sink lower than they already had, but this is beyond pathetic and laughable, and at the same time their desperation gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. :D

Should we care?  I mean, all he's gonna do is unleash more "American Carnage" [!@#$%^&*] and spread more lies about Harris and Walz.  (I am so, so tired of that man.  I wish he would just disappear.)

Fox News should just rename themselves Trump News and call it a day.

More like Trump Central. There's nothing newsworthy with them.

These voters are never going to support Harris, just as they were never going to support Biden. For various reasons (accelerationism, bigotry, financial incentive), they prefer Trump and the GOP.

I don't believe that Harris avoided Shapiro solely for this issue, I think there were a number of valid reasons, but I hope her team sees that there is no getting them and redirect resources and time. Even if that means scaling back on Michigan, if Dearborn is that critical to the win.

I saw a viral tweet of someone sneeringly saying it was time for vibes to be over and go back to opposing Harris. The truth is most of the brain dead meme crew and "Momala" "brat summer" posers never did. They wanted attention and clout before they reverted to the norm, which is irony poisoned lolposting their way into Trump's next term. That's why I have my doubts about just how many of the performative younger people on social media are really going to show up when it counts. They didn't for their beloved Bernie. I just hope it's balanced out by the voters who do actually give a damn about saving what's left of the country rather than going back to tiktok to read the bin Laden letter again.

Good thing there's not enough of 'em. They weren't just outmatched in that hangar yesterday, they're clearly outmatched in their own demographic online now. I would not lump most of the potential youth vote/brat summer kids in with these dead-enders.
