Because you don't let your guard down with republican and trump people who have shown they will do whatever, even storm the capitol, to keep hold of their sick, racist power.

Nobody is doing that. But if you never acknowledge a win and keep moving the goalposts by searching for the worst takes or people and insisting they are going to win when they're clearly not, you're not living in reality.

McConnell was just reelected. Senators have 6-year terms. So he's doing longterm strategizing for himself - he wants to "cleanse" the party of Trump so that he(McConnell) can lead the party and have power. But he and the others are acting out of selfish reasons, regardless of when their terms are up.

Tomorrow.

Meanwhile: One of the voices against overturning the election was - wait for it - Bush torture czar John Yoo.

Oh helllll no at Yoo trying to launder his sullied name and reputation on the back of this! Are people really trying to give GOP operatives credit/cover for doing the most basic?

Pence already issued a formal letter saying he won't invoke the 25th.

House of Reps has impeachment vote Wednesday morning.EST.

First the House votes to impeach (which is like an indictment).

Then the Senate is the jury who conducts the trial.

To convict, two-thirds of Senate must vote to convict.

And Pence asked if he could disrupt the election! Because he was told he couldn't and listened, he's the man of the hour? Screw that. He would have subverted democracy if Yoo or his ike said it was possible.

Yeah, I'm uncomfortable with John Yoo and his giving Mike Pence this credit for, as @DramatistDreamer says, doing the most basic.  Plus, I don't think Pence ever had a shot at being president even before last week.

Meanwhile, I'm hearing Dianne Feinstein, who's so old she doesn't even leave fingerprints anymore (tm Dorothy Zbornak), has filed paperwork to run for another term as senator.  Really, girl?

In some amusing news from earlier today, former media darling Elise Stefanik got turfed from Harvard for being a seditionist. After watching the far more appealing lady Gremlin from Gremlins 2 and desperately trying to bite her palette, Stefanik went on Hannity to whine and whine and whine at the realization her career outside of the clown car is over.
