My opinion has always been Romney can't win. He is the worst combination of a used car salesman and game show host, and the american people have had six years to like him and just don't. He has his week now in the sun, that will fade.

I disagree with Carl completely. There was not a media conspiracy to anoint Romney the winner. They couldn't crown him unless Obama lost, and Obama lost. Obama and his coma delivery is all his own doing.

They can do whatever they want. Obama was awful but it was irrelevant. Remember when Kerry cleaned Bush's clock and the media focused on Mary Cheney? Or when they focused on Al Gore sighing? That's just how they work.

The next debate is a town hall, which is better for Obama, since it's at least partially interactive with people.

What happened is that Obama tried to just get through the debate without screwing up by playing it low key, but that doesn't always work and clearly it did not work.

So it wasn't the Denver altitude like Al Gore said?tongue.png Not that it matters to me.

LOL! I like Al Gore a lot, notwithstanding the harassment allegations, but when he spun that tale I just wanted to slap him.

It's not that "we" can't trust" the judiciary, the Justice Department, the Federal Reserve... or anyone," it's that you choose not to because you don't like what you heard. The only people questioning the data are the neocons. These are the same people who have been screaming at the top of their lungs that "Obama said that if the unemployment rate was still above eight percent he should only get one term!" so apparently the data was just fine until today. It's the same thing we've seen with the reaction to the polls. Two years ago when the polls said that a generic Republican could beat Obama, the neocons practically sprayed their shorts. Now that Obama's ahead, suddenly "oversampling" is the right-wing's new favorite word.

Reasonable Americans should no longer be forced to tolerate the paranoid ramblings of people who ignore math then tell the rest of us the "we" can't trust the numbers. These people are an embarrassment to themselves and this country. Conservatism I can tolerate, proud stupidity, however, I cannot. I'm glad to see that there are Republicans who seem to have gotten their fill of it.

If you think that we can't trust the numbers then make your case as to why not.

Marceline... ya'll are right. Numbers are great and Americans are back to work! I've just come to realize that everything is totally awesome with the economy and all these low-paying part-time jobs the "adjusted" unemployment rate reflects are just what the doctor ordered. Silly me... you've proven me wrong again.

Obama and the Democrats raised $181 million in September. Wow, that is a lot of dough and almost all of it from small individual donors.

Obama and the Democrats are blazing a hot trail... Oh, wait...

Romney takes two point lead in national poll and rakes in $12million online in just two days after debate victory

The one positive thing I can say about G. W. Bush is that when it was clear what a liability he was to the Republican Party he receded into obscurity. Kerry and Gore just. won't. die.

Watching the 1988 Vice Presidential debate on C-SPAN. Dan Quayle just said he and Bush wanted to get rid of PACs... WOW. lol.

I gotta say, history has written Quayle as a buffoon during the 1988 debate, but he is coming across as hopeful and proud of his country. I see none of the hatred that is the key ideal of today's Republican party.

The whole hate thing didn't really start to move to the front til 1992 and Pat Buchanan's holy war speech. After that the 90s were in full swing, and Tom Delay and Newt Gingrich began the "politics of personal destruction" era where they tried to impeach a president because he was a Democrat. By the 2000s they moved on to using the Republican Atty General to go after attorneys who did not target democrat politicians, and then came swift boating and now we have birthers. Hate is all the republican party stands for anymore, which is kind of sad. Bush Sr would be called a RINO today.
