It's not just the media though.  There are other people who haven't even read the FAQs of the Green New Deal that have been making salty comments.

On the other side, there are those who are ready to attack Nancy Pelosi for using the words "green dream" and "whatever" when mentioning that she hadn't yet had a chance to read the blueprint proposal.

It's just odd because AOC did agree with Pelosi that it is indeed a "green dream" and took no offense at Pelosi's remarks.  Just as Pelosi took no offense at AOC showing up outside her office to try to push the green agenda.

It seems that both women aim to do their jobs, regardless of how they're being cast by various narraties, which have more than a whiff of sexism, imo.

You know how sloppy reporting is on The New Green Deal when I have already read several reporters saying "The senate will never pass this nor will the president even sign this"

It's not a bill it's a simple resolution. These folks need to read up on that and what that actually means. Its not intended to be legislation that will be voted on as a normal piece of legislation would. It's aspirational. And folks pointing to AOC as the author and all encompassing goddess on this also neglect the fact that Jeff Merkley signed onto this and he certainly understands the legislative process, coalition building,  uhm how a bill becomes a law.

I'm not sold on everything in it or it's targets but it's a starting point. I like the fact that they are actually putting things on paper and hopefully starting the process to get people to believe the good things government can do. And I like its bold. We have people like Sherrod Brown who IMO is talking about healthcare solutions in a pragmatic way and that's needed too.

And listen to this interview with AOC yesterday. I started out not liking her but she's learning. And she's not getting baited into hating on Pelosi or the situation happening in Virginia.  Its interesting that she and Sherrod Brown are the 2 people I have seen now make Chuck Todd look like a clown. With 2 different approaches that are effective.

And I think that neither AOC nor Markey expects everything to have a chance of being put into motion but I think they are hoping for those pieces that are deemed 'do-able'.  I liken it to some of my favorite athletes who say they set outrageous goals and when they meet some of them, it turns out to be a huge accomplishment because the goals were so impossibly high.

I tried not to judge AOC overall because she is so inexperienced.  I know she said some things that showed some ignorance (and in those moments I really couldn't defend) but because I remember how people made snap judgements about HRC during her Senate campaign (I voted for her for the Senate), it was a reminder to me to wait and see how AOC actually goes about the business of governing before deciding whether or not she was hopeless or hopeful.  She's learning.

I also think AOC has made better choices lately. I think she's got too much of a social media yen, but she's not Ilhan Omar. She's learning. We'll see how it plays out, especially going into 2020 with Bernie vs. everyone else. Do I mind a Green New Deal if it can be articulated via nuts and bolts, of course not.

Meanwhile:

The minute she picked up what appeared to be a pamphlet, I knew Sheila Jackson-Lee was going in on Whittaker.

ETA: Oh, it's a copy of the Constitution!  Oh, Lawd!  Don't tell me she was ready to whup his bald ass with a copy of the Constitution!?

    • I don’t even know why you responded to the bait.
    • I only watch for Sharon and she’s barely on. The only good thing going at the moment is Jack and Diane scenes and they’ve made Diane such a wuss lately which is making that unbearable to watch too
    • I feel like Earl Hamner and his crew brought in Richard* BECAUSE they knew almost right away that Robert Foxworth was so dull as Chase.  At any event, Richard, IMO, proved to be much more interesting as Angela's chief adversary. (*Or brought him back, depending on whether we're including the original "Vintage Years" pilot).
    • And it will also eventually air S2, which will air its finale in Canada this Thursday, May 15th! https://tvline.com/news/law-and-order-toronto-criminal-intent-season-1-2-the-cw-1235449356/ As an American that has managed to watch it in real time, it's very good. Frankly, I think it's the best of the L&O franchise as of now.
    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
    • Ashley and Derek have to go- they really throw off the pace of the show.  Today was the first time I fast-forwarded through their scenes. The writing and acting is just bad for both characters.
    • Jon is stuck in a story that isn't popular but with Cady I feel like the issue is that she was clearly thrown in with no real purpose. I still don't understand why she pops up. I recall early on it being said she owned a spa but we've never seen it. That could've been an interesting location for people to meet. She also could've worked better as Smitty's mom, but instead we get this random agent of Dani's who pops up twice a month? A total waste. I mostly agree. I do feel like Jan could be elevated with a name soap actress, someone like Judi Evans or Kassie DePaiva comes to mind, but they're limited to who is in Atlanta. Keeping that in mind I think the current actress is fine.
    • It's great to see. My thoughts might be a little different, but for the most part, I am excited and interested in most of the storylines. Yeah, you're right. This is probably how she (Dani) normally acts. And, I do not like it!  I agree; this is another distraction while she heals her wounds. If I weren't an Eva fan, she helped me root for her even more. As I said a month ago, I hope they take their time with her modeling agency. I would love to see her face a few obstacles before becoming a huge success.
