At a certain point during the campaign, when people were dragging her yet again for Whitewater and Vince Foster, I reached a similar conclusion.

But none of that is why I didn't vote for her.  Nor, in my heart of hearts, did I not vote for her because of Benghazi, the emails, and the old adage "Where there's smoke, there's fire."

If I were being truly candid with myself, I'd have to admit that I didn't vote for Hillary, because I haven't seen her be as authentic as she was when she made that infamous statement on "60 Minutes" about not being the kind of wife who stays home and bakes cookies while listening to Tammy Wynette records (or whatever).

If THAT Hillary had run in 2016, I would have voted for her in a flash, because I feel that's always what America needs most (and ironically, what Trump Nation THINKS their new personal Jesus is giving them now).  It's just unfortunate to me that that Hillary soon disappeared in the wilds of the Donna Karan pantsuit jungle.

Jesus.  You're right.  "Mama for Mayor" is an excellent way to describe what a Trump administration will be like.

But I'm drawing the line at "Facts of Life."

Speaking of Mama's Family, I think that Vint, Naomi and Bubba would have been conned into voting for Trump, whereas Mama would have been skeptical and voted for Hillary based on being an old woman who might be getting her only chance to vote for a woman. Then again, Naomi might have not voted for Trump since she was sexually harassed at Food Circus and being blamed for receiving obscene phone calls based on how she dressed. I better stop, because I'm about to write a reboot of Mama's Family and this is not the place.

Naomi would have been for Bernie.  She would have found his tousled hair "sexy."

No, I'm wrong, she would have been for Trump.  I mean, any girl who would hook up with a slickster like Stony Hall....

    • A shame the Ben/Thomasina tease didn't go anywhere.  I didn't know until last year that they brought Thomasina back a few days before Quinn was murdered. I guess it's nice that they got those last moments of happiness but then you remember they never would have brought her back if they weren't going to kill Quinn off.
    • Very. It's VERY annoying, too.
    • I just remember Kristina coming on to her slightly and val freaking out
    • Not trying to be a contrarian, but I don't think the show needs a rival family.  Rival families have been over-done on soaps since the 1980s. And it might make the show too predictable.  I'd prefer they beef-up the have-not group with perhaps a couple of workers from the Country Club and one or two Dupree servants, joining the existing group of have-nots.  They could all know one another without being a real "family."  That would give the audience more opportunity to see Fairmont Crest life from the "backstairs."  To me this would be a far more interesting perspective than another wealthy family to rival the Duprees.
    • I wonder if that's why Valerie quit. I think some of the magazines at the time implied issues with Valerie and the producer, although I may be wrong. Painting Diana as going bad would have made more sense to me near the end of her run.
    • Carter & Thomasina were also stuck with a baby almost immediately and didn't get much to do after they finished high school. Carter's father was killed off and Marley drifted out of their friend group because of Jake. They left town after Carter's father died (of tomb dust!) and before Quinn died (unreasonably murdered by the Sin Stalker for dating Zack Edwards).
    • She most definitely would. And I would enjoy watching it! Yes, I agree, that was a very touching moment in her interview. It helped me feel much more connected to her as a performer. I also got the feeling from her, Live with DD, that she wanted to go deeper in conversation.
    • It really does feel like JG is getting off on torturing Shick fans.
    • That part I am not sure about, maybe Depboy might know?  The thing to remember about the show at that time was, it was so plot-driven and desperate that characters and their motivations changed virtually overnight.  There was a period of time where Diana Taylor suddenly became a bad guy and was in cahoots with Cameron Faulkner (toward the end of Valerie Starret's portrayal), which I HATED.
    • I'm going by clips so it's possible that the fan who did the editing made it look a different way than it was.
