Members jam6242
Just read that "Dark Shadows" producer Robert Costello died on May 30. He also produced Ryan's Hope, Another World, and Strange Paradise (and many prime time shows). http://easthamptonstar.com/Obituaries/2014626/Robert-Costello-TV-Producer-93

Members jam6242
Make-up artist Dick Smith who did the make-up for Barnabas when he suddenly aged on the series and in "House of Dark Shadows" has died at age 92. That scene terrified me when I was a kid. Smith also did the make-up for "The Exorcist" and "The Godfather," among many others. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/dick-smith-dead-godfather-makeup-720160?utm_source=twitter http://www.collinsporthistoricalsociety.com/2014/07/dick-smith-dark-shadows-make-up-artist.html Edited July 31, 2014 by jam6242
Members DRW50
Sad to hear this. He was a good makeup artist. That movie scene also terrified me. I also remember being impressed with the old age makeup for Laura Collins in the 1897 story.

Members jam6242
Writer Sam Hall's son, Matthew, has reported that his father died on September 26 at age 93. I think he wrote for "One Life to Live" too. http://msbhall.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/sam-hall/
Members Bright Eyes
A controversial figure. He was a part of some great times at Dark Shadows and OLTL, but he seemed to truly detest the soap genre in interviews.
Members jam6242
Yeah, he didn't seem to have a lot of regard for the medium. I read Grayson Hall's biography and it seemed he was frustrated that he didn't do greater things. It's a shame he didn't seem to appreciate that he provided much entertainment for so many people.

Members DRW50
This is an interview he did about 5 years ago. http://www.tvparty.com/70-dark-shadows.html I mostly tend to remember Hall through his marriage to Grayson Hall, how he wanted to write material that would show off her range as an actress, as he felt her films had never done that. I remember that bio of hers that talked about when she passed away, he agreed to finish the cooking courses she'd been taking.

Members amybrickwallace
Very cool. Interesting shows to be paired up. Can you imagine Barnabas Collins on the news staff at WJM? Mary being a governess to the Collins/Stoddard family? LOL
