Ugh they better release this on DVD soon. I found the other week a torrent of Season 3--in near unwatchable quaity, yet I tore through them in about five days. It's by far the primetime soap (aside from Peyton Place) that appeals to me the most.

I hope you can give us some reviews (especially of the stand-alone episodes that get such stick).

Out of all of Karen's children, I think Diana had the most story potential and it is a shame that she left because I could have seen her with the Alec Baldwin character plus would have been interesting to see her go toe-to-toe with Paige later on.

I do think it is a shame that Olivia ended up leaving because I think she and her hubby could have easily moved onto the cul-de-sac and been the start of the next generation of 'Scenes of a Marriage". JMHO

I think Diana was too unlikeable to be a lead character. Paige was the same way in her first season, until they made her more vulnerable and caring.

I thought the show handled Olivia very badly in her last years. Making her Abby's constantly ungrateful/whiny daughter, then all the boring money stories and more unpleasantness after Abby left. They should have either just made her an outright bitch or dropped the bad attitude.

For her, having her children stolen from her twice is too much for her to bear. I think for her, not fighting for her children is the biggest regret in her life.. not losing Gary.

I felt like Val was relatively well-adjusted after she got the babies back. It seemed to be losing Ben (who, unlike Gary, not only loved Valene, but also genuinely liked her, at least until that Cathy story I don't want to talk about) and having to crawl back into Gary's orbit. Then LML started writing her as a complete victim and a joke.

I actually posted a long review of the early episodes last Friday that froze my computer. But I will try to get back into it. The show definitely seemed to hit its stride in season 3--was that when soap scribe Ann Marcus was one of the main writers (I believe she defected to Falcon Crest for a bit, though she was back at Knots I think near the end). I'd love to know just how involved Jacobs remained with the show. It sounds like creatively he was at least a bit more involved with it for most of its run than he was with Dallas.

That sucks. I would have loved reading that. I always love these long, rambling, reviews, especially when I'm not the one writing them!

Ha this sure was rambling... I'll definitely try to get something out--I just get discouraged when that happens (the only time my comp seems to freeze is when I'm almost done an exceptionally long post).

I don't blame you. I hate that too. Unfortunately most of my long rambles here don't get erased, they just don't get replies. I spent way too much time on those in the Falcon Crest thread.

Ha!! Did she ever say anything publicly about Rock's AIDS, do you know? Kinda ironic she was so associated with him back in the day, and of course her ex, Ronald Reagan was so cowardly when it came to dealing with the AIDS crisis.

Not that I know of.

Speaking of that, Doris Day sent a letter a month or two ago to an AIDS bike run, where she talked about Rock. I thought that was nice.
