Stephanie Martin was terrorizing Nicole, but ended up getting stabbed in the back (literally) and killed. Nicole found the body, and without thinking, pulled out the knife (at the insistence of Stephanie's mute daughter, Debbie, who suddenly found her voice long enough to scream, "Pull it out! Pull it out!"

With her fingerprints all over the murder weapon, and with the police not believing that the mute Debbie could have spoken, Nicole went on trial for Stephanie's murder.

Another excellent mystery/suspense saga, woven by the masterful Henry Slesar.

Oh yes. I was fortunate enough to be an avid soap watcher throughout the genre's glory years. I watched all the greats: Henry Slesar's TEON, William J. Bell's DAYS and Y&R, Pat Falken Smith's DAYS and GH, Agnes Nixon's AW, TGL, AMC and OLTL, Douglas Marland's GH, Irna Phillip's ATWT, Harding Lemay's AW, Claire Labine's LoL and R'sH...the list is endless.

As I have mentioned before, the writing used to be so great in the 1950s, '60s, and '70s,  did not even realize at the time how blessed and spoiled I was too see the master writers at the top of their game. I believed that soaps would always be well-written, adult, and thought-provoking. Little did I know that viewers would eventually end up going from William J. Bell to Charles Pratt, from Irna Phillips to Jean P., from Pat Falken Smith to James Reilly. AAAAAAGH!!!!

One woman was married to a man in Monticello at that time who was in love with her. The other woman had been married to a man Nicole had had an affair with or something. I think he had died and she blamed Nicole.

I would pay money to see that storyline.

    • I admit...I too thought of Penny and Good Times at that ending with SilkPress.
    • Yes, just so.  Thanks for the info. I could tell this was going to be a big thing with ShawnD in this danger! Especially love that the little guy is Andrew!
    • I think the shocker would be if he's NOT playing Dumas. That's where Josh Griffith plays most of his stories. Now they have Cole "self-isolating" because they don't want to put up that hospital set. Will Cole cough himself to death at the GCAC? What a "storyline." I can't believe how much JG is playing with us regarding Nick and Sharon. The teasing has become pathetic, especially for Shick fans who want them back together. My guess is that he'll reveal his real name once he is exposed.
    • Maybe we'll meet Leslie's mama who'll be a former Articulette and they'll build the rival family from there that a lot of people seem to think is missing. It'd make sense considering Anita's been hammering on about going on tour and reviving her music career.
    • hahaha at the Brennan shade.   But even I saw this and have to agree. What's really sad is that some of the person on that list could easily have a love interest that is on the canvas. They just need to be written for.
    • The thought has crossed my mind. Tricia Mann-Grant did say in her EW interview w/ MVJ and DD, that Leslie wants to be a Dupree just as bad as she wants Eva to be. I believe now that's the direction they are going in, that maybe she is just obsessed with the family. I could be wrong though.
    • True. But I have always had mixed feelings about that twist. Since I love the Damian storyline which already had twists and turns. Also I could not wait for a new powerful AND BLACK businessman to mix it up at some point with Victor. It just seem like another twist that was added on for twist sake. And also for a character (whether I love him or not) to hijack a new and refreshing storyline so they can be propped.    Once good thing that I can say about JG is that he loves to keep the Abbotts in rotation. So I could see that happening with Diane. I don't think she has mentioned her backstory, either. I would be intrigued.
    • That's how I feel. Beats could have been played for the past couple months wherein Dante and Gio interacted and had a difference of opinion -- or something. I don't know. I do know that this crushing rant that blames everything on Gio is absurd. -- Reading over all the comments here about characters and couples, it's kind of amazing that we have any show left considering the number of times actors and writers and execs were given influence to make major character and story decisions. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
