You havent been watching Clint? I thought last week was the best of ATWT in sometime now. I am looking forward to nude Chris today.

I pretty much gave up a month ago for the most part, though I did watch for most of the week of the Carly/Holden/Lily reveal. That was the most interesting part of that whole story, and interesting how it was Carly/Holden in part that made me tune out, that and Liberty/Parker/Janet/Katie.

Winterguy, I think the story in general really ramps up starting today. I don't think it was that critical that you missed last week but I expect a lot to happen this week! Plus last week's shows would still be online too.

Nah...I think it was the 1-2-3 of Sophie's murder, and the reveals of the Casey/Em and Holden/Carly affairs. On paper, I agree, it sounded Marland-esque. The fallout, IMO, has sucked.

Sorry...not into the mass-craziness of poisoned people plot.

Is it just me, or does Margo's forehead no longer move?

I will say, on a positive note, the outdoor stuff continues to amaze me. How natural did it seem, seeing two doctors out on the golf course? :lol:

Pretty good show today, amazing what the show looks like when certain characters are not on, LOL!

I think this poisonous storyline is a bit out there for ATWT, but none the less more interesting then anything JP has tossed out there in ages so I will take it, LOL!

God Chris is HOT.

And Casey and Emily are love......

Totally loved all the Tom/Margo/Casey/Emily stuff today, and the one liners that most of them had. And just LOL at Susan.

The show was ok because some vets were on. Chris is hot. i wish they would have shown more of him naked...mmmmmm...hehe.

Didnt notice Margo's forehead. I was looking at her awful hair. Hair department needs to do a better job.

I know...I just think the wackiness is stupid, and a poor excuse for a brief umbrella story. It took her a while, but Pissy finally managed to recycle the Libidizone story from her days at AMC.

Today was OK. I agree that this jewelry story is a little over the top. :rolleyes: Loved the scene with Emily and Susan. LOL at Susan's comment. Best part of the whole show!

I liked today's show.

It was good to see Bob and Chris on the golf course.

The Susan and Emily scene was funny.

A lot of people talk about Margo--I love her b*tch*ness with Emily today.

Ugh! Botox has become ubiquitous on soaps. If you notice most of the female Stars over 35 have this issue. I don't know. Overall, I guess Botox and some of the fillers do make people look better, but I still wish that fewer actresses would have it done. The inability to move the forehead is so noticeable.

I loved it today when Margo said she didn't want the pork chops and Tom said "Then you need to order something else and you need to do it now". :lol: He wanted out of that situation ASAP.

The poisoning story doesn't really interest me, but I don't think it's awful so far.

I actually noticed the other day that Meg's does move. :lol: She's the exception. I would bet anything that Julie P, Maura and the rest of the gang has been getting botox. I don't think there is anything wrong with it or with plastic surgery for that matter. People just need to be sure it's doing them more good than harm.

I hope Carly has a cow when Jack tells her about Parker. There's no excuse for him not telling her, he had a cow and accused her of "cutting him out" when she didn't call immediately after Parker's skateboarding accident. That Parker's mad about her affair with Holden is beside the point. She's still his mother.

This is the best they can do for Henry and V??? Sad.

Today's show was ok. I thought I would hate it but Emma being on help a bit. I am still not buying Brad big concern about Liberty having sex with Parker. I can see Jack feeling that way but not Brad.

I'm so over Brad (and Austin Peck). He's turned into a complete hypocrite since marrying Katie. He wouldn't give a crap about Parker nailing any other teenage girl. And although I think Janet's the most clueless mother in Oakdale, even I hope she slaps the crap out of him if he ever spits out "I don't want my daughter to turn into a tramp like you" to her face. I don't buy that Brad was "Juicy's" first lovah in high school, but until about a year ago, Brad was sexing up anything he could trip and land on. He enjoys tramps. Or did before Katie (I consider Katie one, but I don't want to get into it.)

I don't buy Jack's gushy "your such a good mom" crap over Janet. But I guess it's okay....it just sets her up to be the next Carjack roadkill. You know what proves Liberty's a really screwed up kid? Asking Parker if Jack took him fishing to discuss Jack's sex life. With her mom. :rolleyes:

Agreed, I think Blake became a woman who learned from her mistakes and grew up. I too wanted them to be the core couple after the Tori thing, as a matter of fact, around Wheeler after Simon left I wanted them to move into the Bauer house..( I would have Blake say that this is the closet thing she knew as a home )SORAS the kids, and bring Sam back..Dinah would have a very contentious relationship with her, as she would be jealous of Ross and Sam's relationship, and Blake and Dinah would have that tension (ya, know cause she killed his brother) it would be a core family that had some fissures leading to good drama. But now, Wheeler and company though the Coopers should be the core.

Agree that great minds can think alike :)
In terms of Derek, I see the show doing one of two things based on the most recent episodes that featured him.
1) They do the gradual fade-out of the character until he stops appearing and is occasionally mentioned by Jacob (i.e. still living and existing in town, just not being seen). We saw some evidence with him having a group of co workers he's friends with, plus a female co worker interested in him... so possibly we see him regain his walking and go back to his life with the Fire crew and eventually we stop seeing them on air.
2) His mentioning to Jacob that he hopes to win Ashley back signals that perhaps the dark side we saw glimpses of has been hidden and will rear itself if she appears to be moving on with a new guy.
In terms of Ashley, the show seems committed to keeping her character on the show especially since she was shown in the Thanksgiving episode having a quiet day with Jan and Mona as they discuss Black Friday shopping, food, and other day to day matters... so I think delving into her backstory in terms of who her father is would be a good place for the show to go while keeping her as a good friend to Naomi, Shanice, and a good nurse during medical stories.
Perhaps one of the children of the handsome new doctor could be her love interest down the line.

Re: 1978. I'm glad the unedited version of the episode complete with commercials is available. The one that has been posted several years ago had several segments missing. I like Barbara's long hair here. Dr. Steven Farrell didn't last very long I take it since she is re-connecting with Tom (Tom Tammi) by 1979. The actor playing Steven (Phil Peters) was the real-life husband of Lenore Kasdorf (Rita GL).

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.
