Powell One and Two never made it to Llanview. Victor's sister Gwendolyn Lord Abbott, played to perfection by Joan Copeland (who later popped up as Nora's mother, Selma Hanen) was on for several years in the late 70s. Aunt Gwen was one of those bluest of blue blood, "Daughter of Fine Lineage" dragon ladies like Phoebe Tyler and was about the only person who could make Viki feel gauche for marrying beneath her station. Sadly, Gwen left Llanfair for her manse in Maine; I like to imagine her in Kennebunkport giving hell to nouveau riche Barbara Bush for using the wrong fork and being mortified at the depths to which her brother's family has sunk.

Her son, Richard, lasted a bit longer as an earnest, young romantic lead, having had a star crossed romance with country bumpkin Becky Lee Hunt and then almost marrying Tina before she dumped him for Cord (and before she was revealed to be Victor's daughter). Needless to say, Gwen didn't approve.

I'd also like to acknowledge Robin Strasser's mesmerizing high wire act this week. The way she has Dorian teetering from tragic and vulnerable with Mel to icy and scheming with David to resigned and bittersweet about Viki, without missing a single beat along the way, has been simply brilliant.

Actually the Marty and Todd is one part of the show that I am enjoying. Maybe I am a little perverted, but I love the complexity of their story. It is so much better than the teen scene, Starr and Cole. Todd is keeping Marty from her family, yet he is helping her get better. He is telling her about her past but only part truths. You can tell he feels guilty yet is telling her what he wishes were the truth. He doesn't want her to remember the rape and what he did to her. It is not just a black and white story but one with lots of grays.

I agree with both parts of that post! Yeah what Todd is doing is quite despicable, but I'm also enjoy that we are seeing him feeling some guilt about it......just as we are seeing the Dorian feeling some guilt about some the stuff she's done.

Gig and Brody...hot.

    • I’m up to October 2, 1996. Ugh, the opening was updated to add Zachary and Dahlia, and remove Vanessa.  I guess this means Maeve left the show and everyone will just assume Vanessa died in her car wreck, so sad.  Matt found the MRI test results from the mail, just before Vanessa’s memorial, but Nola convinced him that no test results matter at this point. They also gave Nola the short Vanessa haircut now, so it’s throwing me off haha. Btw, how is Quint not around for any of this? He just came back full-time, but then couldn’t be available for his sister’s memorial? Billy is back!  He just showed up at the hospital and gave Josh a big hug. So did Reva, and Reva finally just mentioned that she calls Dylan every week (ha!).  He has 24 hours out of jail for deaths in the family, so I guess he isn’t staying right now beyond the memorial. He’s pushing Reva/Josh as a couple to Reva. I feel so bad for Matt during this whole thing. Watching him break down at the beach is heartbreaking. Rick just told Phillip about his one-night stand with Blake, and now Amanda just told Roger the truth in front of all of them about Rick being one of the fathers. Blake denies it, Roger doesn’t believe it, but Amanda is so bad and I kind of love it haha. Zachary is now obsessed with Michelle and saved her from drowning. He called her Mary until he corrected her and said she’s Michelle. Was there a Mary in the Bauer family? It seems like he recognizes her from a long time ago. It seems like Michelle is done with J for good, as she’s now developing a crush on Zachary. It looks like they’re going with a J/Dahlia/Marcus triangle, away from Michelle. So Griffin was behind his assassination attempt?  Weird and I don’t care. Roger got electric shock treatments now and is acting differently, like a changed man who is overly nice, but of course it’s an act. I sure hope he ultimately gets the upper hand and we can get him out of this hospital. Blake and Hart seemed to be upset that Dinah allowed the treatments to happen, but those two are too little, too late for me. Annie is now missing work because of the pill addiction; things are getting worse. Annie just went off on Abby at work, so you can tell she’s getting angrier. What I do like about this story is how quickly others began to question her pill taking, and it’s not some secret that lasts for months. Josh just caught Reva skinny dipping at the creek and Annie found her diner apron and realized they were together. I really think Kim Zimmer puts a lot of herself into the Reva character haha. I’m in the middle of reading her book and Kim and her friends are into skinny dipping in real life! Overall, a boring month but I’m looking forward to another holiday season in Springfield for something new and fun (I love the holidays). I think I’m now going into McTavish and Laibson’s last month as HW and EP. I’ve got to say, post-Marion/Brent, McTavish’s big umbrella storylines of 1996 (Lonatrat and A. Spauling/5th Street) were huge busts. Lonatrat made everyone unlikeable and A. Spaulding/5th Street was so slow and uninteresting. Otherwise, my thoughts on the smaller B storylines: Grant family/Griffin was so gross and unnecessary; Dahlia/Marcus is boring; Holly/Fletch/Meg is nonexistent; Zachary and his meddling, I’m on the fence; Abby/Rick pairing I like; Blake/Ross/Rick and the twins I like; Annie and her pill addiction I like, but the slow Reva/Josh movement is boring and I lump Reva’s return into the 5th Street storyline because she’s mostly just with Buzz and Alan.
    • Murder, She Wrote appeals to viewers of all walks of life. It doesn't feel outdated at all and there's still that feeling of comfort and warmth when watching it. Murder, She Wrote was a show I took for granted as a kid/teen but its a show I appreciate so much more as an adult. I think it will live on forever in reruns, DVDs, streaming.

    • It's too much!  Madison has potential as a character. I enjoy what the actress has shown so far in her limited scenes. But I must say that Madison playing off Chelsea and especially the way she was acting was giving a grown adult talking to a teenager.
    • I'm sorry, I can't contain myself as I am playing catch-up.   NOSY NURSE IS GETTING A STORYLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????   YASSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • She should've called Jacob and reported her for stalking!
    • Yes...I was like what the hell is she doing. Finding every moment to talk to her too while she's at work. It was just super desperate.
    • really! her father has a stroke and all she can think about is getting laid?! but, while chelsea’s behavior isn’t really all that surprising, madison’s defies belief. the writers went out of their way to reduce her age, since what 30-year old attending neurologist would be gushing like a teenager, and going live on social media with a patient’s daughter? on another note: i’ve never watched either y&r or b&b, but for the past three days, b&b has been on (long story:) but three episodes with nothing but characters endlessly rehashing the danger sociopath luna presents to steffy was excruciating! nothing happened, no character development, nothing happening among the characters — just crazy luna, over and over and over.  have no idea if this is standard for b&b. but, if it is, btg not holding b&b viewers makes sense.
    • I thought today's show was rather dull. I enjoyed yesterday's show much more. The best part of today's show was Shanice!
    • Thank you for the clarification!
