James-Collier wins Sexiest Male again - he really hates winning that award as you'll see from this previous blog entry of mine...But what is John Partridge (Christian Clarke, EastEnders) doing being nominated for Funniest Performance? He's not funny! Not as funny as Blanche in Corrie. Somebody at Inside Soap is having a laugh. Happy with the nominations? Was something or someone left out? Or nominated when they don't deserve it? September 26, 200817 yr Author Member http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5jC...3M6R4NNg8vAT3xw Soap storylines competing for award2 days ago Vera Duckworth's death and Max and Stacey Branning's affair being uncovered have gone head-to-head as this year's best storyline. The Coronation Street and EastEnders plots are vying for the accolade in this year's Inside Soap awards. Also up in the storyline category are the death of baby Daniel in Emmerdale and Hannah Ashworth's eating disorder in Hollyoaks. Meanwhile, actress Gemma Bissix is shortlisted twice for best bitch - in her roles as EastEnders' Clare Bates and Clare Cunningham in Hollyoaks. She is up against Alison King, aka Coronation Street's Carla Connor and Jennifer Metcalfe for her role as Mercedes McQueen in Hollyoaks. Up for best bad boy as well as best actor are Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd and EastEnders' Robert Kazinsky. Kazinsky is also shortlisted as sexiest male. Steven Murphy Editor of Inside Soap magazine said: "The last year has seen some of soap's most blockbuster plots ever. From the explosive revelation of Max and Stacey's affair in EastEnders to David Platt's reign of terror in Coronation Street, it's been a rollercoaster ride. "The year has also seen Emmerdale tug at our heartstrings with its baby swap storyline and Hollyoaks prove itself to be a real contender with record ratings and a string of hard-hitting storylines. This year is bound to be a very closely fought battle in all categories." The winners will be revealed at the Inside Soap awards ceremony in London on Monday. Highlights of the awards party will be broadcast on ITV1's This Morning the following day. Voting for the 2008 awards remains open to the public via the magazine's website for the best soap category until noon on Monday.
September 26, 200817 yr Member I love these categories! "Best Bitch." I wish the Daytime Emmys over here would borrow them. But at the idea of the hair model who plays Liam and bimbo who plays Maria on Coronation Street nominated for Best Acting! That show has so many good actors. I wish they'd show the awards over here.
September 29, 200817 yr Member EastEnders dominates soap awards EastEnders has swept the board at this year's Inside Soap awards, winning nine prizes - including best soap. The show took back the top prize from Coronation Street which won it last year for the first time in a decade. EastEnder Lacey Turner won three gongs, including best actress while colleague Robert Kazinsky won best actor. Coronation Street won both "best bad boy" and "best bitch" thanks to Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, and Alison King, who plays Carla Connor. Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard in ITV1's Emmerdale, won the outstanding achievement award in recognition of his 22 years in the show. That was the Yorkshire drama's only prize. As well as best actress, Turner - who plays Stacey Branning - also won the award for best couple, along with on-screen husband Bradley Branning, played by Charlie Clements. It was the third year running that the pair have won the award. Turner's Christmas storyline, in which Stacey had an affair with Bradley's father, Max - played by Jake Wood - won best plot. Kazinsky, who plays Stacey's brother Sean Slater, won both best actor and sexiest actor. Fellow EastEnder Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn Swann, was named sexiest actress for the second time. EastEnders also won in the categories of best newcomer - Rita Simons as Roxy Slater - and funniest performance - Cheryl Fergison as Heather Trott. Aside from best bad boy and best bitch, Coronation Street took one other award with Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor, taking the best-dressed soap star gong. Hollyoaks' only award of the night was for Ellis Hollins, who won best young actor for his portrayal of Tom Cunningham for the second time. The Bill, meanwhile, was named best drama for the third year running Edited September 29, 200817 yr by dannigold
September 29, 200817 yr Author Member I'm not surprised at the EastEnders domination, they're to the Inside Soap Awards what DAYS/GH were to the SOD Awards. Last year when Corrie won Best Soap, that was the only time EastEnders never won that award. 2007 and the earlier part of 2008 were fabulous for EastEnders though, so congrats! Yay for Jack P Shepherd and Ellis Hollins! Edited September 29, 200817 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
September 30, 200817 yr Member But, apparently, EE is starting to crumble. Yeah, no surprise there. But, the time period is from Sept. 2007 - August 2008, which is why EE dominated the proceedings. It's just another pointless award show - and I hate most award shows.
September 30, 200817 yr Member But, the time period is from Sept. 2007 - August 2008, which is why EE dominated the proceedings. You have to go over syntax of tenses again. I obviously meant, it is starting to crumble now, in this very period. I couldn't care less about these cr*ppy, meaningless awards! My post had nothing to do with them, but with Y&RWorldTurner's remark. He said how it deserved them, and it did, but, I said, sadly that good period didn't last. OK? September 30, 200817 yr Member You have to go over syntax of tenses again. Boo! OK? Clearly not obvious enough, otherwise I wouldn't have mistook it to mean the opposite.
September 30, 200817 yr Administrator EastEnders dominates soap awards Turner's Christmas storyline, in which Stacey had an affair with Bradley's father, Max - played by Jake Wood - won best plot. I've only seen clips of this storyline and it was very good! Fellow EastEnder Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn Swann, was named sexiest actress for the second time. Her sister is hotter. Hollyoaks' only award of the night was for Ellis Hollins, who won best young actor for his portrayal of Tom Cunningham for the second time. Hooray for Ellis!! He's such a good young actor.

September 30, 200817 yr Author Member Though EastEnders had a really solid year, when it comes down to it all, it's still the most popular soap among magazine voters. Inside Soap is a magazine, so people vote on these categories via the magazine or online. As I said before, EastEnders has always dominated, even in years when it was absolutely horrible. The British Soap Awards are probably more prestigious, but still not by much. Edited September 30, 200817 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
