The Doctors

I've actually liked some of the Pollack's work on the Doctors... they could write a climax and fall out quite well.. though they sometimes lacked the character moment touch that Rita Lakin had.  Though I doubt Rita would have stayed more then 2 years.. she seemed like she was burnt out and the show sold her a bill of goods.  Seeing her take on creating the Rookies, Flamingo Road, and Nightingales.. the same things happened.. so I'm wondering if maybe she was at fault just as much as the other person.  A shame that the 1988 writers strike basically ended her writing career because she was too pricey even though she had the talent.

I actually was disappointed on the resolution of the 'murder mystery'... I think it would have been better if Penny did accidently shoot and kill John Morrison.  Even if the police ruled it an accident, she still would have felt guilt over killing a man even if it was in self-defense.  Plus, the Pollack's were masters of fall out (i.e. Penny's crush on Mike and the effects of that are still shown in the November 1974 episodes).

I'm actually interested to see how Depriest and Marland fare when head-writing.. since this type of show isn't one that would be a good fit for either of them.

The Pollocks had done such a good job with the Dan Allison "murder" mystery that the story with John came as even more of a disappointment. Then again, the Allison story came under the watch of Allen Potter as EP and the Morrison story under Joe Stuart. That may have had something to do with it.

Speaking of the Pollocks, I can see some resemblances of their work on TD to GH (what little of it is on YouTube). They lured Gerald Gordon over to GH as a neurosurgeon (and later landed Anna Stuart to play his sister), for one. Plus, Althea/Nick/Penny seem like the model for early Lesley/Rick/Laura. Laura, of course, actually did kill David Hamilton.

Isn't this the actress who played Ina Hopkins on OLTL?

When I was in high school, I imagined who else could ever possibly play Erica Kane.  For whatever reasons, I came up with Goldie Hawn in a dark wig (wtf? lol) and Anna Stuart.  AS based on looks, stature, and the whole diva-vixen thing (I only knew her as Donna at that point).  Now seeing her on TD, I particularly see a resemblance to SL, they certainly could have played sisters, Robin Strasser rounding out the three.

Tom shaking the [!@#$%^&*] out of Ann in her hospital bed is the height of inappropriate.

Just caught up in the December 1974 episodes...bad decision writing out Margo...she should habe remained a Thorne in the sides of Alan/Toni...heck even been a wildcard once mike returned.  I think 1975 would have been a good year if it had been a Margo/Toni/Alan/Mike quadangle.  Short sighted of the show.

Odd still seeing Ann and Carolee as friends...ill be intrigued to see the reason for Ann's change of character.

    • Would anyone have any of these Y&R episodes they could add to the vault? It would be very much appreciated. • When I was a kid, I would watch DOOL with my mom. I remember Denise as Susan so well. And later, of course, on GH. How sad to hear she has passed. RIP.
    • I have to dig that scene up on YT. I'm glad they gave them some kind of happy ending, even if it was really late. Interesting! I remember Justin and Sarah being involved, but I either forgot or never caught their backstory. The girl with money and social position of course turns out to be Jackie. He sort of did to Sarah what Vanessa did to his brother! I do remember Justin started out as not the greatest guy. Kind of a horn dog. It's only when Ross comes on that he becomes the "good" brother. I only have some vague memories of Ben and Hope, mostly of when they were in a positive relationship. He certainly changed over time. "Chill" would be the way I would describe Ben (along with "handsome but kind of a yawn") for most of his time on GL, so hearing he once had a violent temper is very surprising.
    • Yes. That's called good writing.
    • interesting idea.  That makes sense, as MVJ seems to have set up each character development (traits) for future plot developments.
    • I really enjoyed today's episode. It showcased a lot of the other cast and I saw hints of storyline potential (Smitty & Bill). Martin definitely has some anger issues and I recall him being overly scared about protecting his family and having all the doors locked, coming out of one of his "dreams". There's obviously a lot going on there and I can't wait to find out more. I'm thinking June is going to be more than just the issue story of the week. I think she just might be related to one or more of our main characters. As for Tomas, yes, Alex Alegria is not the strongest actor, but he's pretty to look at and he emotes something. I'm just not sure what that something is yet.
    • No. Absolutely No. I don't know who this is... since it's just some random Twitter quote... But NO. The only parallel between OG Caroline's leukemia and Liam's tumor... is that they are both having cancer. That's it. Other than that... I see absolutely no similarities.  Caroline hid her sickness almost till the last moment. She was also giving the viewers signs that she is not well for days if not weeks before the diagnosis. It was not like Liam... falling down and hitting his head on a table and bam he has a tumor. Caroline's storyline broke our hearts, because of her attempt to live out the rest of her days with dignity and grace. It was written slowly and with care. What we are seeing right now with Liam is the complete opposite. It's begging the viewers for empathy and cheap tears. It's so in your face and trashy... I can't believe they are using cancer for something like this. Bradley Bell should never do terminal stuff again in his stories. It's borderline offensive to people who actually have lost relatives to cancer. To me it is.
    • I was thinking that June could be Kat's mother and Eva is Nicole and Ted's.
