The episode in which Jason psychologically tortured Aaron in Gordon's old cell and then Aaron met the hilarious Father Aidan was phenomenal. Top notch soap opera, and should be up for at the very least directing awards. The whole thing was wonderfully shot.

Ever since she arrived she reminds me constantly of Tracy-Ann Oberman-the face and especially the voice! The accent is identical. She'd make a fabulous baby sister for, ironically, Chrissie on EastEnders.

This Rhona-Pierce-Vanessa storyline is turning into 88 shades of tiresome. I did like it when Vanessa sniped "No wonder Tess left you to be with Paddy." It would explain why Tess would have been so unhappy with a hunk o' spunk like Pierce to end up in bed with...Paddy.

The acting mostly keeps the Rhona/Pierce story going for me, although that won't be enough once Paddy swoops in to save the day (zzzzzz.......). I wonder if he's going to kill Vanessa or if they will avoid the same path they took with Katie and Gennie.

I couldn't watch the episode with Aaron in prison, although I'm impressed they were willing to go as far as they did, especially pre-watershed. I've heard people who are objective (eg, don't watch with loathing of Aaron and Danny Miller) say it was well done, although some Aaron fans see it as torture porn and too much and trivializing abuse. I tend to wonder where they were over the years, especially the very tackily done sexual abuse story last year, but I think they are now uncomfortable because stories that were always about awards bait are now even more blatantly about awards bait. I imagine they also get upset because this story, unlike the abuse one, isn't about Robron making kissy kissy and Robert being a hero.

I think what could happen is that once Pierce is disposed of then Rhona and Vanessa might make a go of it together.

Ross' 'gay' advice to Finn and then playing matchmaker was hilarious!

I didn't get torture porn out of it at all. The whole thing was over rather quickly, I would say, just enough to be very effective and then over with.

I had the same reaction as Laurel when Maggie appeared. And when Faith showed up, with Debbie no less, whom I think didn't appear last week. I just think bringing on Faith is overkill, she chews up the scenery so she's not exactly a subtle addition to the show. I may end up liking her who knows.
Wasn't Georgia supposed to return too? I'd be more interested in that, the poor Sharma's have to put up with that parrot lady to have some comedy.
The sextape business is ridiculous. Rhona to Vanessa: YOU WENT LOOKING! Seriously? So Vanessa would just stand there shocked with hands over her mouth if all she wanted was a sneak peek of Rhona's sextape, in front of her? The actresses obviously know that's dumb and they're playing it over the top.
Is Liv secretly in love with Gabi? Would they go there?

No, Georgia was never mentioned as coming back.

I like Faith but sometimes they overdo it, as they do with a lot of comedy.

Debbie hasn't appeared anywhere near as much as I thought she would since her return.

I do think they'll go there.

What on earth was with Lisa and Zak having a poo fight and then Lisa saying she loved Zak farting in front of the TV and leaving pee all over the bathroom? And then her final line to him was "You stink of pee!" and then she kissed him approvingly. Huh?

Robert and Rebecca? Uh oh. They went there.

@I Am A Swede someone has been putting up some '80s Emmerdale Farm (I also have some early '90s that I put on my Jerry Sugden channel but that may be too new for you).

I found this episode on the same channel as the episodes posted above. It takes place right after the car crash in which Matt's twins were killed. It's an absolutely devastating episode that breaks your heart.  :(

It's so hard to watch that. I've never known why they were so kill-happy with Sugdens. Poor Matt.

WTF with those scenes with Emma and Faith in last night's episode? I like a clear cut case of blackmail but that was just plain silly.

However "It's Arthur" brought a tear to my eye. That kid is wonderful.

Oh so Jerry Sugden is your channel DRW50? Thanks so much! I've been watching several episodes recently. It's so much fun seeing people I had forgotten all about, like Paul, I wondered whether he'd been on another soap before realizing he was there when I started watching full time two years ago. I remember Carl King and Kelly from my brief viewing in 2011 around the time of Lisa's rape. It's such a shame the other soaps' older material is so hard to find.

Faith has been a lot more enjoyable than I thought she would be.

Yes. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Sorry I haven't put up more. I always liked Paul, and I wish he'd pop in a bit now, at least to see Bernice. I loved Carl...don't get me started on that one.

I wish more older stuff for Emmerdale was around.

One thing that I don't think new viewers realizes is that Bernice started most of what we have now with Ashley, Laurel, Diane, Nicola, etc. I'm not even sure if the show remembers considering how rarely we see Bernice.

If you want to see more 2011 material I have another channel called Frank Harker.

The whole 'Oh, she only heard the second half of Emma's words in the church' twist was very unclear and doesn't really make sense, IMHO.

Side note: I walked Tom Lister (Carl) in the Stratford in East London area a few weeks ago and was struck by how tall he was. I'm 6'0 and he's easily 6,3 or 6'4.

I was in a hurry but didn't say anything to him, but seeing Carl's name reminded me. I'd totally forgotten.
