Lol you're too funny.

Watching Laurel and Betty now. I hope I didn't miss Victoria and Betty. This old lady has made such an impression on me in such a short time. Who's grave were Laurel and Betty speaking at?

Damn my baby is looking so fine....damn Debbie you harlot. Look how you broke poor pete's heart.

That's Betty's partner, Seth. Seth was on the show from the late '70s to 2004 or so, when the actor passed away. For most of that time Seth was married to a woman viewers rarely saw - she passed away offcamera around 1993, and the next year Betty, his old sweetheart from WWII, returned to the village. They were together until he died. Betty knew how much he loved the country and the woods, but burying him there was technically illegal, so she let them bury "him" (actually sand or something) in a grave, while she, Sam, Zak, Alan and Laurel secretly buried him in a wicker casket in the woods. When his dog died a few years later she also buried him there, beside Seth.

Here's Betty's first scene.

I'm confused why Charitys son Noah is staying with Cain? I know Moira at one point thought Charity and Cain were having an affair?

Is Noah Cain's son or somebody elses? And seriously I hate the way Cain treats the women in his life. You'd think they were just obstacles in the way the way he just tears into them at every opportunity.

If you think Cain's behavior toward women is bad now, you should have seen the days when he fucked their daughters (or his daughter's girlfriend).

Noah is Charity's son with the sadly long-gone, brilliant villain Chris Tate. There was some question of paternity as she'd also been with Marlon and Cain, but Chris was the father. After learning he was terminally ill, and realizing Charity was in love with Cain, he killed himself and framed her for his murder.

Debbie offered to take Noah while Charity was inside, but Charity wanted him to be with Cain.

Lisa's become too harsh for me, although she has her moments.

It bothered me more when it was this huge absolute for the Dingles, especially that pervy Eli, who was "in love" with three of his cousins (Gennie, Chas, Debbie. They've toned it down a lot over the last 5 years.

It's not really a big part of Corrie or Eastenders, that I can recall. On EE I just remember it with Joey/Lauren and with Ian and one of his cousins. HO had Sinead/Rhys, which was presented as shocking.

With Emmerdale it was presented as "Oh they're just Dingles." The only relationship that was ever developed beyond that was Cain/Charity.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
