OUCH!

After drifting out of EE for a while, i am slowly watching it again. I admit there are some stuff that Kirkwood does better than Santer, but he does have his weak moments.

Kirkwood has created less appealing characters than Santer did. Maybe it was because in 2007, EE needed a revamp, where as now it doesn't. But i can't help but notice that Kirkwood's characters for EE haven't been that interesting...yet.

As for story structure, its an improvement. I admit, the stories are more drawn out and fairer time is given to the characters.

Thanks for posting that.

I was watching some of the EE Revealed on Whitney (annoying narrator), and in the family tree section, which was a lot of fun, they list Carol's siblings as Max, Jack, and...April.

I guess it doesn't mean she's coming back (if Revealed was the gospel then Denise's other sister would have returned) but isn't it odd that they show her but not Suzy?

I think the PBS episodes are about at the time of Den coming back.

I remember BBC America dropping the show just before Den showed up as well. There was the build-up, and then they pulled the show from the lineup.

Too bad that story was such a flop. They made Den some creep with no morals at all, which he always had in the 80's, and made Sharon into such a pathetic mess that only lived in Den and Dennis' shadows. Vicki was always atrocious.

I still barf at the sight of Den and Zoe Slater in bed together.

Thank god for Chrissie during this time period.

Maybe Bianca can meet Chrissie in jail and get released during the same time, only for Sharon to return around the same time.

It always gets on my nerves when I think about it as the potential was there, and Sharon/Den and Den/Dennis were fascinating. Dennis was everything wet Ryan and constipated Sean could never be. The show just bungled it by making Den too dark and by not giving him the Vic back immediately. It has been a huge mistake in the long-term because now they are still clinging to the husk that is the Mitchells, and trying to pretend Phil is any sort of powerhouse.

I still remember the scenes where he went around and talked to those he knew when he first lived there. It's funny that, aside from Pauline, they're all still on the show.

I guess this also means they will never bring anyone else back from the dead - another mistake.

Did you hear that

I remember Den's first scene with Dot the most, and how fast she was to give him her "I ain't one to gossip" line.

And I think Pat was watering flowers outside of the Vic as Den came back to greet her.

Someone mentioned that it was of great significance that Den died via Pauline's doorstop, as Pauline always had an underlying bitter hated for him.

I wonder if Den's return would have worked better when Sharon was married to Grant in the 90's. The show still had solid writing then, and the 90's were Sharon's growing up years where she came into the forefront more.

I'm glad they never went the Ronnie/Archie route with Sharon and Den. Den did love Sharon to the extent where it seemed like he wanted her for himself at times.

He even said that even though Sharon wasn't his biological child, he could never love Vicki and Dennis the way he loved Sharon.

    • I wouldn't call Tomas' cuts a modern cut. They appear to be a slim/extreme slim cut⏤cut slimmer down the sides, with a higher armhole, which pulls up/out, depending on the fit of the person's body. Again, I feel like Ms Featherstone is buying to fit the wrong parts of the body; instead of buying to fit their widest parts (shoulders), she's buying things to fit their middle/waist (which is the easiest to ultimately fix without a complete re-cut), and it shows in the finished product. And the only reason it irks me is because I worked in suit sales for nearly ten years, and I notice these things immediately. The fashion(s) on this soap are miles ahead of three of the four others (I like the fashions from Y&R), but the tailoring is a choice, especially where the men are concerned.
    • There probably would have been a good chance they knew of him, especially with his ties to Spaulding and his being involved in so much scandal (meaning there would be plenty of photos and articles around they both would have seen), but I agree the mask was silly, clearly just a TV moment.

    • I think all the suits are fit too tight, except for Jon Lindstrom's. DC lawyers/doctors are not all LA fashion elites. Yes, maybe Tomas would have a more modern cut to his suit, but an established guy like Bill wouldn't go around looking like that lonely button on his jacket was ready to explode constantly.
    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
