Nice bit of comedy with Heather, Minty, and the vicar. They are both pathetic characters but at least Heather is starting to get self-respect as Minty is almost gone.

Not too thrilled with a lot of this stuff with Phil getting the Arches back so quickly. I don't believe Pat would be so easily convinced to give the garage back to a man who has barely started recovering from a crippling drug addiction. Phil could cost someone their life -- actually he has already done that with cars when sober...

Enjoying Sam, especially when she's rude to Heather. The simpering I don't care for as much but I did like her scene with Ronnie and the baby clothes. I also liked the scenes with Ricky and Liam, Liam's insecurities are something which have been going for a year now, it's a nice little story thread.

The stuff with Kim and the pub was a fun filler story. Nice to see Patrick again too.

I get that the scenes with Shirley ordering Billy around are supposed to show that she's in charge but I don't think they're coming across as intended.

Today's episode:

Ronnie is acting like Archie, but then again, she always has. It's an interesting dynamic about that character that they've hinted and showed in the past, but as much as she hates Archie and how much he screwed with her life, she has a lot of his nasty tendencies. She's a very controlling personality like Archie, which showed in today's episode how she wanted to pay Sam off to leave town with her baby.

LOL at Sam's line about how being on crack would get her everything she wants. I guess Phil will officially own the Vic, but he'll let Kat and Alfie manage and live there, much like what happened in 2003-2005?

I can't wait until Minty is gone, but I find it hilarious that the only reason Sam is showing any interest in him is because Ronnie is paying her to leave town and she needs some support to do this, so here enters Minty. She knows he's the only person she has wrapped around her fingers, so it isn't like she's magically developed any feelings for him. He'll always be a last resort for her.

The Darren/Jodie stuff was sweet filler.

Kim is a riot.

Poor Charlie, but his scenes at the end of the episode with Stacey were nicely done. It was nice to see that bonding moments and seeing Stacey smiling while being on her meds.

WELCOME BACK KAT SLATER (I refuse to say Moon)! It was only like 10 seconds, but I can't wait to see her in full action.

How strange is it to watch Jessie Wallace go from 1960's Pat Phoenix/Elsie Tanner to her most famous creation Kat Slater in the change of a day? Jessie rocks.

I'm thrilled but also surprised. I'm sure people might say this is some sort of issue that Kirkwood has with Devon Anderson but IMO the truth is that Devon is a terrible actor who never should have returned in the first place. Everything with the yoof gang story and Billie/Whitney was awful but Devon's performances didn't exactly overcome the material. I think that Billie has more dramatic material dead than alive, and I say that as someone who hates killing off characters for a stunt. This should be amazing material for Lindsey Coulson and for the rest of the Brannings. I can't wait to see Alan and Blossom again!! I imagine the reunion between Alan and Carol is going to be ugly but should be riveting. I'm really happy the show remembered them. That whole era of Eastenders, 1996, 1997, I have very fond memories of. I'm not sure I'd be watching now if I hadn't seen all that on PBS years ago.

I think it is much more dramatic to have him die from his own actions when everyone assumed he had grown up and if he was in any danger it would be in the army. If I bought his army story then I might be more invested in him being killed in action but the whole thing was so poorly written I think it would be a disservice.

Watched the first episode of EastEnders ...

Sue (the redhead at the cafe) is [!@#$%^&*] annoying. Hate that cow.

Lou Beale just goes on and on and on. She's hilarious. And wow, Pauline is SO different.

In that scene with Ian and his friends ... who was the blond? Sharon?

Nick Cotton!!! I can't wait to see the original villain of Albert Square stir [!@#$%^&*] up.

Why does Mark have a stick up his ass? He's the one that gets HIV, right? Does he end up dying or is he still alive somewhere?

10 years ago today, the Slater's arrived. It was also the day of Ethel's funeral, which somehow isn't on YouTube anymore.

I thought it was a great introduction, and allowed the new family to interact with older veteran characters on the show from the start. I've not seen a new family click this well from the start since then.

    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol
    • "And I also want to flirt with every woman that comes my way... but then beat up anyone who talks to my wife. BECAUSE I'M A MAAAAAAAAAAAN." Give me a break with your ugly baby paintings... You're in the same category of the hacks that sell paintings with a single dot for thousands or even millions of dollars.

    • I have to check out his Bela Garody on Search for tomorrow. He was one of the main reasons EON worked for me when I was watching. Truly unforgettable presence. Handsome in the most perverse and sinister way. They don't make faces like that anymore.
    • My favorite moment in SOAPDISH is the HW taking the star to the mall in NJ to improve "morale"!!
    • Oh no! The shoulder pads! I will mourn them when they're gone. Please tell me the head pieces and hats remained!?
    • Shout! TV has now added season 26. Not sure what the reasoning for that was, but maybe it was the one that was ready to go...
    • It's AWFULLY hard to tell.  But out of the (approximately) 16 weeks so far in 2025, Bryton has only had about 12 episodes.  That's significantly less than 1 per week.  Once the actor drops down to less than 1 per week for an extended period of time (such as a 39-week cycle), I start thinking there's no contract in place for him or her.  Surely these folks aren't tying themselves down to a show for a guarantee of 1 or 2 episodes a month.   If I counted right, Bryton has had 21 episodes in the past 24 weeks.  They're either (a) about to kick into high-gear & work his ass off to meet his minimum guaranteed appearances, or else (b) he ain't got a contract that guarantees him squat.
