That headline is misleading. Dyer's interview blamed a new producer coming in (I can't keep track of them - was it Clenshaw?) and claimed he didn't like the Carters and began dismantling the family and firing Mick's kids, but I thought that might've begun with another EP. He said the pairing with Janine was a byproduct of that. It seemed like a rather convenient personal narrative, but many soap actors have a version of that same story they believe whether it's true or not.

I read another article, which the timeline alludes to both Sean O'Connor and the dual team of Jon Sen & Kate Oates (not Clenshaw). However, Clenshaw's era is noted, via his relationship with Janine Butcher, but it definitely stemmed from previous producers. From Radio Times:

❝ The Carters joined the soap in 2013 in an iconic Christmas Day duff duff moment, and Dyer explained that up until 2017 "it was incredible" – until things began to change with the introduction of a new producer.

"The new producer came in and he didn't like the Carters so he started to sack people, my son [Lee Carter, played by Danny Hatchard], my daughter [Nancy Carter, played by Maddy Hill]," he said.

He continued: "They've still got Kellie Bright in it, who played my wife Linda Carter, but then what they done was they split me up with Kellie and they put me with Janine.

"So when the producers said to me, 'You're going to be with Janine,' I went, 'Janine? But she murders people.' ❞

I hated Mick, his mama and their whole raggedy ass family so I’m glad Dyer keeps yapping, hopefully the character remains gone.

I never commented on Sonia and Bianca’s exit but I thought it was well done, never been a Sonia fan but it was touching seeing her Bianca ride off with Bex and the new baby. The episodes with Martin’s funeral and Sonia comforting Stacey then Stacey and Ruby finally coming to an understanding were great as well.

Nicola held it down for a few weeks with this killed Harry’s girlfriend story and the actor playing Harry has improved quite a bit, I like him and Gina together and his friendship with Kojo.

I was hoping for a bigger renovation for The Vic but I do like the refurbished look. The episode where they first opened back up was really good too, great use of Nigel, Billy and the history of East London

I really love the stuff they’ve done with Avani and the actress has realy shined but I hate nuVicki’s perv step son and weirdo husband. I really wanted Ravi to whoop both their asses.

I’m so happy Cindy is back, I thought she’d be gone longer. Loved her helping Lauren give birth, I felt bad they still kicked her out at the end. Her blackmailing Kathy and Ian was well deserved and I like that she snagged The Albert and still exposed Kathy’s affair with Harvey. Not a fan at all of Harvey and Jean but I did enjoy all the fallout, especially Kat dragging Harvey, Freddie hugging Jean and making her cry.

Ive really enjoyed the Clenshaw era so I’m sad to see him go but I’m willing to give the new show-runner a chance. I wonder how many more exits and new additions we’ll see.

I actually stopped watching. I find the show really bad at the moment (or at least before I stopped, which was shortly after Sonia and Bianca's exit). And I just saw the overnight ratings for last week, quite bad, below 2 mil.

I don't like the nuMitchells all, I don't care about Avani and Joel, I hate what they have done to Kathy by making her an attempted murderer who is so chill about it, also she is pissed off at Cindy for cheating on Ian, yet she is enabling Harvey cheat on Jean, I don't like Peter and Lauren as a couple, she is always so toxic towards him, making Zach Barney's dad is such a lame decision and plot twist... I found Stacey vs Ruby in the end horrible for Stacey. Firstly she accoused Ruby of burning the stall, then when she learned it was Lily, she was bullying Ruby into not telling anyone and making Ruby leave the square with everyone thinking it was her who did it.. horrible look there for Stacey and Lily, who was such a brat there (I get she was going through a lot, but terrible mothering from Stacey there, to say: sure, you can commit arson, pin it on someone else and get away with it, if you're having tough time in your life). I still hate what they've done with Gina/Freddie/Anna, I think it ruined all three of them, the whole where George was during Cindy's attack was just forgotten, which is sloppy and I just didn't like Terry Cant's rushed return, that was such a let down which led to the rushed exit for Sonia.

So as you can see, I just don't like the show at all

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
