It is pretty smart, but I think with the show's ratings needs they may be better off leaking some stories, if they think those stories will get attention.

Kirkwood basically gave away most of what was going to happen in the first half of 2008 and it didn't hurt ratings any.

The Carmel/Mercedes scenes in the E4 episode were fab.

Carmel: Why the hell am I comforting you?

Mercedes: Because that's what you do, Carmel. That's what you do.

The scene where Jem (I wish she would go away) realized Gilly still loved Steph was also good. Anthony Quinlan can be a good actor when he has the chance.

I wonder if they are going to be breaking up Malachy and Mercedes for good.

Is it wrong that I just can't stand Cheryl even if she's in the right? She's so judgmental.

I don't get that Carl. I haven't seen today's ep yet, so this may not be what you're talking about, but how is Cheryl in the right to tell Carmel about Mercy and Calvin's business? Yesterday's episode she just wouldn't shut the [!@#$%^&*] up with her constant nagging and playing the victim. Nothing happened to you, ugly cow.

Is it just me, or did Archie get chunky?

NANCY! I love you, always have, always will. The end.

Loved the Carmel/Mercedes scenes. Such soapy goodness.

Marquess should have taken this story opportunity with Jem to write her out for good. After realizing Gilly loves Steph, she decides to go on their trip alone, and never comes back. Simple. Though, I've never really cared about Gilly and the only reason I ever put up with him was because of my love for Rhys.

So does Steph actually love Gilly too?

    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
    • I loved SOAP OPERA NOW because they  did detailed analysis of the ratings. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJS504ep-ff/ 14th Annual SOD Awards 1998 GH Edit with a Y&R shout-out to Bill Bell who is then seen in the audience.
