What Bigwigs check out SON?

Couldn't the same be said for fan mail? Although I guess you don't have any proof of fan mail.

I guessing that stuff doesn't make it to them either. There are people who shift through all the mail that comes in and ideas for story are probably tossed.

Lol there's probably tons of it that are from people wanting this or that. (Or there probably was back when soaps were more popular).

They might, but they can't use anything they posted by someone online. I remember once, I can't remember who it was, they said fans send them ideas, but they can't use them, cause it sets them up to be sued and whatnot

My first fan fiction had a cop by the name of Dallas in it for a short term role. Months later, a cop named Dallas showed up in the real Oakdale (on ATWT).

If they don't pay any attention, then why waste the time to read things?

Brad Bell used to ask broad questions at the B&B board. Like what character do you want to return and why. None of the things asked affected the immediate future but I suppose they were a way to see what the consensus was.

I think the problem with the internet and fans is shown in the ratings demos. The Bell soaps pull in a much older, and probably less internet savvy audience than the ABC soaps.

Because sometimes they want to see the reaction about certain stories etc. I doubt they look around forums and blogs for inspiration.

About the "getting sued issue". Even if they did read boards and used some stuff they liked then how could anyone prove it to be theirs from the beginning? Why would any writer admit they went on a message board and got inspired by something the read there? That would be a pretty dumb move.

Actor87. I don't know what you want to say with your post but I doubt TPTB at ATWT read your fan fiction and thought "Hey Dallas would be a great name for the new cop we're bringing in." :D

A former writer of 2 competing soaps is on SON. It feels good to know something!!

I actually speculate that there are TWO former writers, both of competing soaps, on SON. But unlike you all, I know NOTHING.

I only know one for a fact. ;)

Did I ever say that? Noooo. :D

I just always found it comically ironic. :D

I can think of two, both from competing soaps.

This all sounds totally... weird.
