June 21, 200817 yr Member "Days" fans were looking forward to the possibility of seeing Frances Reid (Alice) at the annual Brady/Horton picnic episode on July 2. Lines were written for Alice in case Ms. Reid could appear. However, Ms. Reid was unable to make it to the taping. Hopefully she will be up for an appearance in the annual Christmas episode this December. Ms. Reid continues to extend her record as the oldest actor on contract on any television series. Her 94th birthday is December 9. http://members.aol.com/jason47b
June 21, 200817 yr Member Sadly, I believe reading a while ago that Frances Reid is in poor health. For the healthiest of people, the unfortunate truth seems to be that--although they sometimes live past the age of 90--they almost always don't make it to 100. Just out of curiousity, when was the last time Frances Reid appeared on DOOL? And in recent years, how many annual appearances did she make?
June 21, 200817 yr Author Member Just out of curiousity, when was the last time Frances Reid appeared on DOOL? And in recent years, how many annual appearances did she make? Frances was still appearing regularly, around 1 to 3 times a month up until September 2006. Since then, she's only been in 3 episodes (Christmas 2006, July 4th picnic 2007, Christmas 2007). Here's her monthly appearances since 1985: 1/85: 9 2/85: 11 3/85: 8 4/85: 7 5/85: 10 6/85: 8 7/85: 5 8/85: 7 9/85: 7 10/85: 11 11/85: 7 12/85: 9 1/86: 7 2/86: 7 3/86: 7 4/86: 10 5/86: 5 6/86: 9 7/86: 12 8/86: 8 9/86: 6 10/86: 10 11/86: 2 12/86: 9 1/87: 8 2/87: 7 3/87: 5 4/87: 7 5/87: 5 6/87: 7 7/87: 8 8/87: 4 9/87: 7 10/87: 2 11/87: 4 12/87: 5 1/88: 4 2/88: 6 3/88: 7 4/88: 7 5/88: 4 6/88: 5 7/88: 6 8/88: 4 9/88: 3 10/88: 10 11/88: 6 12/88: 4 1/89: 6 2/89: 6 3/89: 4 4/89: 5 5/89: 9 6/89: 6 7/89: 7 8/89: 8 9/89: 5 10/89: 6 11/89: 9 12/89: 7 1/90: 6 2/90: 8 3/90: 6 4/90: 7 5/90: 4 6/90: 4 7/90: 6 8/90: 12 9/90: 7 10/90: 10 11/90: 7 12/90: 8 1/91: 5 2/91: 4 3/91: 5 4/91: 4 5/91: 8 6/91: 11 7/91: 8 8/91: 9 9/91: 11 10/91: 1 11/91: 7 12/91: 7 1/92: 12 2/92: 10 3/92: 7 4/92: 7 5/92: 9 6/92: 8 7/92: 4 8/92: 2 9/92: 5 10/92: 13 11/92: 6 12/92: 8 1/93: 9 2/93: 8 3/93: 7 4/93: 7 5/93: 12 6/93: 14 7/93: 9 8/93: 7 9/93: 1 10/93: 7 11/93: 8 12/93: 16 1/94: 6 2/94: 7 3/94: 11 4/94: 4 5/94: 5 6/94: 11 7/94: 8 8/94: 7 9/94: 7 10/94: 3 11/94: 8 12/94: 17 1/95: 6 2/95: 8 3/95: 7 4/95: 5 5/95: 10 6/95: 8 7/95: 9 8/95: 7 9/95: 8 12/95: 2 1/96: 1 2/96: 3 3/96: 3 4/96: 5 5/96: 3 6/96: 5 7/96: 1 8/96: 4 9/96: 4 10/96: 5 11/96: 12 12/96: 12 1/97: 4 2/97: 9 3/97: 5 4/97: 5 6/97: 2 7/97: 4 8/97: 5 9/97: 9 10/97: 4 11/97: 6 12/97: 5 1/98: 3 2/98: 6 3/98: 4 4/98: 3 5/98: 3 6/98: 6 7/98: 9 8/98: 5 9/98: 6 10/98: 1 11/98: 2 12/98: 3 1/99: 2 2/99: 3 3/99: 1 4/99: 4 5/99: 6 6/99: 2 7/99: 5 8/99: 9 9/99: 2 10/99: 1 11/99: 5 12/99: 9 1/00: 10 2/00: 8 3/00: 10 4/00: 1 5/00: 2 6/00: 7 7/00: 6 8/00: 3 9/00: 1 10/00: 2 11/00: 3 12/00: 10 1/01: 4 2/01: 2 3/01: 4 4/01: 2 5/01: 6 6/01: 3 7/01: 1 8/01: 2 9/01: 3 10/01: 6 11/01: 2 12/01: 5 1/02: 4 3/02: 1 4/02: 4 5/02: 6 6/02: 3 7/02: 2 9/02: 3 10/02: 1 11/02: 3 12/02: 2 1/03: 2 2/03: 4 3/03: 1 4/03: 1 5/03: 3 6/03: 1 7/03: 2 8/03: 5 9/03: 9 10/03: 7 11/03: 7 12/03: 5 1/04: 7 2/04: 1 3/04: 13 4/04: 1 5/04: 5 6/04: 2 7/04: 3 8/04: 1 9/04: 5 10/04: 2 11/04: 1 12/04: 3 1/05: 2 2/05: 1 3/05: 2 5/05: 1 6/05: 2 7/05: 2 8/05: 1 9/05: 1 12/05: 3 1/06: 4 2/06: 2 3/06: 1 4/06: 1 5/06: 3 6/06: 2 7/06: 3 9/06: 3 12/06: 1 7/07: 1 12/07: 1 DID NOT APPEAR: 10/95; 11/95; 5/97; 2/02; 8/02; 4/05; 10/05; 11/05; 8/06; 10/06; 11/06; 1/07-6/07; 8/07-11/07, 1/08-Present. June 21, 200817 yr Member Isn't is sad to notice that our three-oldest divas in daytime (Frances Reid, Helen Wagner and Eileen Herlie) have not appeared once since January?
June 22, 200817 yr Member Perhaps "Days of Our Lives" should do a OLTL-Asa-funeral-type storyline for Alice Horton to give her the ultimate recognition and the fans to remember her time with DAYS since its' first episode.
June 22, 200817 yr Member ^^ Wow, no! Not now anyway. She's still breathing and if I would get pretty depressed watching that episode if I was Francis. I think it's kind of disrespectful to do such an episode while she's still walking this Earth. It would be a lovely tribute later on. But as of now, no way. jmo Edited June 22, 200817 yr by Cheyenne
June 22, 200817 yr Member Perhaps "Days of Our Lives" should do a OLTL-Asa-funeral-type storyline for Alice Horton to give her the ultimate recognition and the fans to remember her time with DAYS since its' first episode. I think it is disrepectful. Plus, OLTL killing off Asa generated more storyline and brought BE to the front burner. I can't see Alice's death doing anything like that to Days.
June 22, 200817 yr Member Yep, I think that when actors make it as far as she has, the character shouldn't die until they do. Alice should certainly get a huge funeral when the time comes, but I would hate to see it as long as she's alive. Pity she can't appear at the picnic; I hope she recovers soon.
June 23, 200817 yr Member I totally forgot about the death of Frank Brady, did it generate more storylines for DAYS? I'm quite curious since I don't watch the show regularly.

You mean Shawn Brady Sr? LOL And to answer your question, no, his death didn't generate more storylines. What do you expect from Dena Higley, who is not a skilled writer!

Holy crap! Yes Shawn Brady Sr., pardon me it's been a long weekend. Now be nice about Dena because they could always go back to Jim Reilly.

Characters get killed off all the time on soaps, with the actors being alive.
