They really went all out for the Dane/Harry brawl and poor Ann's stricken involvement. Another reminder of how lavish the show could seem in spite of the ratings.

Noelle Beck nominated for Outstanding Younger Actress in the 1989 Daytime Emmy's.  At 19 minutes and 16 seconds.  Apologies if this has been posted before.  It's nice to see a clip of Trisha, even if it's quick.

Thanks. (welcome back) I'd never seen that. Sometimes I forget just how young Noelle Beck still was at that time. By her last few years as Trisha she has more confidence.

You're very welcome.  I think Noelle Beck and Trisha are extremely underrated.  She was on the show for more than 8 years and had two major romantic pairings.  As you said, she was young and really grew up on the show.  I know Loving was never highly rated but I wish she had more recognition.

I suppose marrying and living well was the best recognition she ever could have had but I do think her work as Trisha deserves more credit. It's not easy to play heroines, but she always managed to give Trisha sincerity and not become too cold or sanctimonious.

I never thought her ATWT recast worked, but I thought she was very classy to offer to give the part back to Martha Byrne near the end. I have nothing against Beck, whose work on LOV I thought was solid. I think she'd make a good ice queen or socialite antagonist on GH today too - maybe Trisha herself, hardened by what became of her entire family. There was an edge to her I didn't think worked for the very generic hausfrau Lily was by the end of ATWT.

Someone at Locher Room's comment section yesterday was saying that she was potentially offer the role in 1985 (leaving Loving but Marland decided to give Martha more of a chance) or 1989 (when Martha left). I don't know if that's true but she might have fit in better in those years. She didn't by the end but that's down to how Lily had changed and the show's failings. I think she worked best with Liz Hubbard.

Trisha going on GH would be interesting.

Trisha and Lily came from the same mold (rich girl in love with a blue collar man, and had a cold/controlling mom that she was distant from)... however, Trisha had this likability and warmth that her more approachable.. while Lily was just a straight up bitch.

If anything Noelle Beck was more in the mold of Lucy Deakins' Lily... and could have played Lily in 1985, 1989.. or even in 1993.

I think it's hard to see the depth of Beck when Trisha was constantly in the role of victim. When she wasn't being terrorized by madmen like Nick Diantos, Jeff Hartman, and Giff Bowman, she was constantly fighting another woman to keep her man entertained. I don't think a lot of her business stories have made it to YouTube and I would be curious to see the early stages of her romance with Steve because I don't think she was battling Cecilia for Steve's attention right away. I wish more was done to ground Trisha in a career that gave her agency on the canvas. I do feel the TV production angle was a nod to Nixon's original vision for Merrill Vochek, but I don't know if that was the right role for her. I liked her managing the Alden art collection, but I feel like it limited the scope. Having her go into Alden Enterprises (which I think they tried towards the end) might have given her some more story space outside put upon romantic heroine, but I think it would have been interesting if they had paired her up more with Kate and had her involve in 35 Maple Street and some community service work that could have helped bridge the gaps between the haves and the have nots. 

I will say, I appreciated Beck's work much more in her final days when she wasn't carrying the story and she was sorta just living her life as a mom and wife while paling around with Stacey and Shana. Anyone who is asked to carry as much of a show as Beck has was bound to be forced into delivering material in a certain way.

The biggest chunk yet of a Loving episode in these from about an hour and 24 minutes to an hour and 42 minutes.

I know Loving had some shaky actors in these years, but Alexandra Wilson is a special case. 

What a choice to have Burke Moses shirtless for all his scenes but make sure we see nothing.

Oh my.. this would be around the timeframe of the episodes that aired in my country. Wow, seeing Burke Moses... I think he was one of my first crushes lol

And wow, Alexandra Wilson was indeed horrible. I didnt remember her that way, but I was a kid, so I probably didnt notice. Luke Perry on the other hand was quite good, I thought.
