Members Dale
IIRC, it was under Gary Tomlin that the show did so very well in the demos - circa 2001-2002.
Administrator Toups Posted May 28, 2008 Administrator Share Posted May 28, 2008 What year? I can check. From memory (which is always sketchy LOL), I know OLTL went to #1 in demos for Dorian/Jessica's hit and run.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I could've sworn the show made it to #1 in that demo a few times during JFP's time there. Toups, do you have demos info to know the last time OLTL did well in the demos?

Members Y&RWorldTurner
Not sure, but I've heard a few times that OLTL went #1 in 18-49 a couple times during JFP's tenure as EP there.
Administrator Toups Posted May 28, 2008 Administrator Share Posted May 28, 2008 May 23-27, 2005: 1. OLTL 2.2/14 (+.2) (tied with Y&R) March 11-15, 2002: 1. OLTL 2.7 (+.1) Apr 30 - May 4, 2001: 1. OLTL 2.4 (+.1) (tied with GH, Y&R, DAYS) I have 1998 - 2000 ratings but they're not in the right format, so I can't check very quickly.
Members brimike
2005 is Colson. Anyone know what 2001 and 2002 are? I'm REALLY interested in 2002, since that's nowhere CLOSE to a Sweeps stunt.
Members dragonflies
Personally AMC is now ABC's reheaded stepchild, there's NO other explanation for why Frons keeps hiring hacks to write the show. Wow the Phelps era was BAD, I can't believe it would get those kind of demos
Administrator Toups Posted May 28, 2008 Administrator Share Posted May 28, 2008 Uh oh, I have different ratings for that week. 45 Nov 5-9, 2001 Households Y&R 5.3 (+.1) B&B 4.2 (+.1) GH 3.7 (+.1) OLTL 3.5 (+.2) AMC 3.4 (-.1) ATWT 3.4 (same) DOOL 3.3 (-.2) GL 3.1 (same) PC 1.9 (+.1) PSNS 1.8 (-.1) Demos 18 - 49 GH 3.0 (+.2) OLTL 2.9 (+.3) AMC 2.8 (+.2) Y&R 2.7 (+.2) B&B 2.3 (+.2) DOOL 2.3 (-.1) GL 1.8 (same) ATWT 1.8 (-.2) PC 1.5 (+.2) PSNS 1.4 (same) Note: These aren't my ratings (I didn't start getting my own ratings until 2003 I think). Members DaytimeFan
OLTL doesn't have a hope in hell of ousting Y&R from the number one spot...but demos...perhaps.
Members LoyaltoAMC
Phelps, with McTavish as HW, kept OLTL at the top of the demos, which was probably the key factor in Shapiro handing the crown jewel GH over to these two. They faltered somewhat under Tomlin, but they've always remained strong, and have almost always outpaced AMC by at least .1.
