Y&R doesn't need any more turmoil. No firing of headwriters for the next 2 years.

It's too soon to fire them imo, they had a lot to overcome coming in, I'm giving them time to see if they can straighten out the mess that LML left behind.

Where is the old structure right now? I certainly don't see it.

It offers a sense of familiarity with Y&R viewers, it would have the "feel" viewers were accustomed to for so many years, even if the overall writing was bad. The show has been a little too hokey over the past two years.

Viewers don't like sudden change, it has to be gradual. However, all we've been getting is sudden changes over the past two years.

It's nowhere to be found, but that doesn't mean the viewership would soar if it were to come back somehow. That memory of show's past glory is what's partially killing it. That sort of storytelling will never come back.

However, if they want to get the old Bell writers, then I suggest they stick to those who worked under Bill Bell and not those who were promoted under Kay Alden. Except Sara A. Bibel. She should return.

It is tricky. You don't want a show scripted by pensioners. At least not exclusively. That would belong on Hallmark Channel (which may be where the soaps are headed anyway, I guess).

  Minnis a pensioner? Johnson a pensioner? Rex M. Best a pensioner?

The Rashomon Effect

Was The Young & The Restless’s Executive Producer Josh Griffith fired? Did he quit? Is he still there? All of the above, according to my sources. I may end up with egg on my face like all the others who have ventured into this morass, but I’m going to take the plunge. Apparently, Griffith voiced his displeasure with head writer Maria Bell’s stories to TPTB including the man who cuts his paycheck, Bill Bell Jr. At one point he wanted to quit, but then he reconsidered. It didn't make for a harmonious workplace. Finally, Bell Jr. decided to put everyone out of their misery by letting Griffith go. He has been informed and is still on the job until his contract expires in early September. The WGA did phone the show about the allegations that he was rewriting scripts, but that was not a major factor in his dismissal. Tomorrow everyone could kiss and make-up, and I’ll look like an idiot. Each person, myself included, who has reported on this has relied on sources who only knew part of the story. Every version has some elements of the truth but isn’t a complete picture, like the movie Rashomon.

So I guess now we'll have to wait until early September to see if he's finally done... Eh.

Rashomon is Kurosawa's masterpiece, this looks like a cheap vaudeville from 19th century Vienna.

Let me get this straight: JOSH went to BILL to complain about BILL'S WIFE?

Smart move.

There's a reason these people are referred to as "The Idiots In Charge."

Griffith pretty much sealed his own coffin, thankfully!

It will be interesting to see who the new Executive Producer is come early September.
