Dr. Strangeweird Ryan

How interesting it is of Ryan to now all of a sudden care so much with daughter Emma having an allergic reaction to a bug bite. Hmm isn't it just odd that the idiot would actually be like this, given his little history? Let's all take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? Kendall was in her coma thanks to JR and the doctors said she would need pain medication but there is a catch...it could harm the baby! Zach barricaded himself into the room with guns, ferrets, rocks, pebbles, stones, everything you can think of to protect the baby (mind you it was not his) since that is what Kendall would want in case only one of them could live. What was Ryan's response to all of this? Help save Kendall! Forget the baby, which technically is his, but save Kendall because she has just lived for so many years, screwed everything that literally walks like mommy dearest, given back to friends and family with generosity so yea Kendall was just starting out in life and needed to live longer! Screw that baby because we got to save Kendall but just let this baby die! Thankfully both lived but this history just demonstrates how Ryan put someone else above his child...and yet the writers want me to just forget this and show him as the caring, devoted, superhero father that makes sure his children come first? Sorry but you just cannot have it both Dynamite Kiddo ways! Either you make him into the sanctimonious moron that is ME ME ME or be someone with compassion, conviction, and sacrifice that does not put himself first above everyone else. Make no mistake about it because the above wasn't the first time that good ole Rye Rye put his superhero body at the top of the highest mountain! Emma got a reaction to eating a brownie...Annie takes her to the hospital in the elevator but BOOM it is rendered inoperable! Annie calls his holiness but, rather than rush over there to comfort his wife and child, he just decided to meet them someplace else! Hey it did not matter if Emma never got out of that elevator but died there waiting for help to arrive (let's not forget that, odds are, someone else called for assistance, not Ryan...he does not even know how to dial 911)....Ryan barely even budged to go save the day as he usually does! Now the show does a 180 and portrays him as the selfless, kids come first, kind of guy? This stinks of both pimp juice rolled into puke and of a h@rd on for someone that is h@rd on the liking for anyone because of the super stupidity or S Squared! Talk about a phenomenon sweeping the nation! Once again, AMC continues pimping this worthless character without looking at past history of portraying him in his current form or seeing if it is necessary for stories. What is the point of Emma's bug bite? To get Frankenstare to remember being a father? That is impossible because he has barely been around to parent in the first place! He ain't Dynamite Kiddo Father of the Year!

It was really good today. I even watched a little of Ryan & Annie to see why Emma was at the hospital.

I wish someone would fill Angie in on everything Krystal has done to the residents of Pine Valley. I don't think she would be so concerned for her friend if she knew the truth.

I love how Erica doesn't get that her celebrity is going to cause problems with the other inmates.

Greenlee was her true old self and I can't wait for her to find out the truth just to see that damn smug look get wiped off her face!

Yes I want Annie to take GreenME down a few pegs, I agree Steve, I want to see that smirk wiped off her face and in the most humiliating way possible.

I CANNOT wait till she finds out she was the last to know

Same for Aidumb, I mean he really is too stupid to live

GreenME was just sickening today, any type of "friendship" with Greenlee is contrived and a farce, she is NOT someone people would want to be friends with.....

Today was just blah

When Greenlee was arranging this dinner party, she said it was for ME, and then corrected herself by adding Aidan. She truly is self absorbed. And WTF was she wearing? She looked like a big red blob across the screen. That dress was a mess.

I cant wait for her to find out but you know when she does, she will retaliate by finding some way to publicly humilate Kendall in the worst way. Thats how she always dishes out her revenge.

Loved Angie and Krystal's friendship

Why is Rob still here? The guy creeps me out and I hate how involved he is here with Tad and Jesse

LOVED Annie and Ryan today. Aww thats the couple I love. I think its good that they arent forcing things but letting it take its natural course. Loved seeing Ryan in loving father mode with Emma. They were cute together.

That makes two bc many times I feel as if Im the only one

    • I agree with a lot of what has been mentioned before me. I think BTG desperately needs another family.  Character ages still throw me. There have been several times where I still think Martin is Vernon and Anita's child and then a character says something and I'm like oh right. It doesn't help that he hardly socializes with his parents or Kat. I do not care about the secondary characters... Ashley, Derek, Vanessa, Doug, Pamela, Joey, Jan, Mona, the gym dude can all go and I wouldn't care. The exception being Shanice. There is a decent hospital set and police station set but most characters have other jobs. They could have easily had characters interact at work and make it seem organic. Instead they had Derek showing up at someone's work let alone a police officer to talk about his quarrel with Ashley. Also, falling into the trap of having stories that soaps no longer have the budget for. That fashion show was tragic and so was the award gala. The potential trial between Naomi and Bill being dropped was probably due to lack of a courtroom set. However, how soapy would it have been if Bill had a heart attack at the trial and Naomi feeling guilty. It would have also been a way to easily redeem the character of Bill to Naomi but also Dani and Chelsea who would face what losing him would ultimately mean.
    • Not too upset with Martin and Bradley being married. It's a first for daytime, so I love that BTG came out of the gate breaking barriers. I hope that the show plays on their past in the most soapiest ways. This doesn't have to be Martin's first marriage. What if Bradley's parents were some real grifters or con artists? Does he have siblings?      I agree with/ @Cheap21    Kat gives me a smart businesswoman.  With everything she is currently dealing with I can see her becoming a shark in the boardroom. So I'm looking forward to that business storyline.
    • That's what happened with Hope Williams Brady on DAYS.  Started as rich princess, went to the police academy.   Became a cop.  Now consults for the I.S.A.
    • I know Curlee/Demorest tried to give Roger a conscience in regard to raping Holly, and Zas is magnificent in those scenes with Alex. But he kinda ends up blaming Adam and the fact he (well, really the writers) ignores raping Rita and being responsible for her and Ed's child's death make it less than convincing.  I do think during 89-93 they were careful to not whitewash his past with Holly, but his occasional bouts of conscience always seemed to be overridden by his obsession/lust for her. The only purely good thing I can ever recall him doing is helping Maureen during the blackout, and even then, had she lived, he would've found a way to call that favor in. I've kinda resisted saying it, but it's kind of clear to me Long was determined to have her own version of Erica Kane, and God help us all, it ended up as Reva Shayne. Although at least Kim could act. (Sorry LaLucci fans) Honestly, I'm not even sure CBS soaps ever a character as larger than life as Reva.
    • Regardless, I'd still like to see more episodes from the 80s...there is very little of Charlotte Greer, Kirklands and Greenberg's out there sadly.
    • A black family having a white maid would be a good subversion of stereotypes. Also want to say that while the overall show has many flaws, the biggest one that's legitimately stifling is the lack of a rival family.
    • I also do not like the bits I've seen with Delia during Labine's 83 return. I am glad when she came back for the last time in 1986, she allowed Delia to move on from Frank.
    • Thanks for the well-detailed reply. I'm fairly early in my viewing, so I have some time before it goes nuts. Thanks a lot! @kalbir and @DRW50 thank you so much. I am just approaching 100 episodes, so I'm good for now.
    • The Duprees as the main family isn't the problem, but the fact is that over 3/4 of the cast are Duprees.. so it limits coupling potential and also keeps the canvas too closed in. Too many female Duprees and no hetero, nor gay, male Duprees is also a problem.   I also agree with @DemetriKanethat the male characters are one note, and not very layered/interesting... outside of Bill, that is. To me, I would have focused on either Nicole's family and dynamics or Dani's family and dynamics instead of trying to introduce/develop both families at the same time.  Nicole's family is more developed and interesting with loads of storyline possiblities then Dani's family right now. And because MVJ and co decided to feature so many Duprees... we're less likely to be free of any outside characters like Ashley/Derek since they're the non-Dupree part of the canvas.
