B&B: Mauzy out + Curse of Death?

Two little tidbits from this ragtrade magazines...

Mackenzie Mauzy will leave B&B in the upcoming weeks as Phoebe will join an off-screen Constantine for his tour...

The exit is only temporary - so they say. I personally wouldn't count on that.

There is a strong rumor that TWO characters could soon bite the dust. One as a killer, one as the previous victim. It's high time to worry about Storm (and possibly Pam) who are groomed as the show's villains and therefore likely culprits...

B&B really shouldnt let Mackenzie Mauzy go...I mean she's hardly great but the show needs to start developing its younger generation. Ridge, Taylor, Brooke and Nick can only bedhop for so long before they start to get too old and it starts to get too icky. Since they wont go down the (potentially amazing) Storm and Felicia route then they can at least be developing the only three characters who have potential to be the next generation of Forresters (Thomas, Phoebe and Steffy).

I hope it's not Storm or Pam. Both William DeVry and Alley Mills are great. They have written Storm into a corner and I'm having trouble guessing where it will end up without him either going to jail or leaving town. But they could write Pam out of her Donna-craze and go after Eric herself (that's what she started to do a few months ago it seemed). Alley Mills is too good to lose.

As much as I FLOVE Martha Madison, she is WAYYYYY too old to be Phoebe, in fact she's too old to even be Bridget (although I'd LOVE that...Kyle and Martha playing sibling again on a different soap). I remember there was a thread around a while back about who should play Steffy, and there were some pretty good suggestions made by people in the threads.

If anyone, I would love to see Ashley Benson or Leven Rambin take over the role, although I think B&B has recast a few too many characters in the last few years (Bridget, Felicia, Storm, Katie, Donna, Stephen) albeit successfully, they need some consistency for a while.

They had a great younger set - Rick, Amber, CJ, Kimberly, Deacon, and even Erica. They decided to throw them all away so that Ridge, Brooke and Nick could trade bed partners every two weeks. <_<

the first rick (jacob young) was good when he was part of the younger set. but the younger set was force fed to the viewers and they were on all the time. it was amber this amber that! too much! cj didn't do anything much, and kimberly was just a virginal princess.

jennifer finnigan was THE younger set. she was the only younger actress on b&b to captivate the audience, and her interaction with the older characters was great. deacon was never really a "younger" character, but his character was always with the younger crowd before he slept with brooke, battled with whip and ridge, and then married macy.

it sucks that the rumor is it's storm!

what an utter waste of talent and charisma!

brad bell is an idiot!

they should really kill off either bridget or phoebe. there are too many women on this soap!

if they kill of budge, have her kill herself after losing nick to katie. then have the entire logan and forrester clans go against a katie/nick romance since it killed budge.

if they killl off phoebe, it would be ok since steffie is offscreen. phoebe should get killed after she discovers rick/taywhore doing the nasty. then the entire forrester clan and brooke would be against this disgusting may/december romance of the dilapidated, murderous taywhore and rick.

I think it's time B&B promote one of its writers(not Alden though) to head writer and Brad Bell step down. He's obviously ran out of ideas and can think of no way to use character other than Brooke, Ridge, Nick, Eric, Taylor(sometimes), and Stephanie. I vote for Patrick Mulcahey.

I think Mauzy is a good actress - it's her character that's the problem. The Constantsinging SL didn't help much either.

And MARTHA MADISON?! WOW. How about Adrianne Leon instead?

Why not Alden? I think the show has been better under her writing than it has been in a long time. They should also bring back Jack Smith. An Alden/Smith collaboration would be fantastic! ;)

I thought Martha Madison was fantastic during the 'John Black is Dead' hoax of a storyline. She CAN act, she just needs the writing, plus she's gorgeous in the 'California Blonde' kind of way.

Admittedly, I never understood the appeal of Adrienne Leon. I just don't get her. She's not a bad actress by any means, I just don't see anything in her that's particularly appealing either (the same goes for her replacement who is awful!)

Well as it happens Jack Smith is back at B&B.

Vincent Irizarry throws in a quick mention that he was dating Catherine Hickland when he first heard about Marj.  I wonder when this was..? She was married to David Hasselhoff for a good bit of the 80's. And then MEK for most of the 90's. Fun fact... David Hasselhoff played Michael Knight on Knight Rider. Then she married an actor named the same as her first husband's character.
    • I agree with a lot of what has been mentioned before me. I think BTG desperately needs another family.  Character ages still throw me. There have been several times where I still think Martin is Vernon and Anita's child and then a character says something and I'm like oh right. It doesn't help that he hardly socializes with his parents or Kat. I do not care about the secondary characters... Ashley, Derek, Vanessa, Doug, Pamela, Joey, Jan, Mona, the gym dude can all go and I wouldn't care. The exception being Shanice. There is a decent hospital set and police station set but most characters have other jobs. They could have easily had characters interact at work and make it seem organic. Instead they had Derek showing up at someone's work let alone a police officer to talk about his quarrel with Ashley. Also, falling into the trap of having stories that soaps no longer have the budget for. That fashion show was tragic and so was the award gala. The potential trial between Naomi and Bill being dropped was probably due to lack of a courtroom set. However, how soapy would it have been if Bill had a heart attack at the trial and Naomi feeling guilty. It would have also been a way to easily redeem the character of Bill to Naomi but also Dani and Chelsea who would face what losing him would ultimately mean.
    • Not too upset with Martin and Bradley being married. It's a first for daytime, so I love that BTG came out of the gate breaking barriers. I hope that the show plays on their past in the most soapiest ways. This doesn't have to be Martin's first marriage. What if Bradley's parents were some real grifters or con artists? Does he have siblings?      I agree with/ @Cheap21    Kat gives me a smart businesswoman.  With everything she is currently dealing with I can see her becoming a shark in the boardroom. So I'm looking forward to that business storyline.
    • That's what happened with Hope Williams Brady on DAYS.  Started as rich princess, went to the police academy.   Became a cop.  Now consults for the I.S.A.
    • I know Curlee/Demorest tried to give Roger a conscience in regard to raping Holly, and Zas is magnificent in those scenes with Alex. But he kinda ends up blaming Adam and the fact he (well, really the writers) ignores raping Rita and being responsible for her and Ed's child's death make it less than convincing.  I do think during 89-93 they were careful to not whitewash his past with Holly, but his occasional bouts of conscience always seemed to be overridden by his obsession/lust for her. The only purely good thing I can ever recall him doing is helping Maureen during the blackout, and even then, had she lived, he would've found a way to call that favor in. I've kinda resisted saying it, but it's kind of clear to me Long was determined to have her own version of Erica Kane, and God help us all, it ended up as Reva Shayne. Although at least Kim could act. (Sorry LaLucci fans) Honestly, I'm not even sure CBS soaps ever a character as larger than life as Reva.
    • Regardless, I'd still like to see more episodes from the 80s...there is very little of Charlotte Greer, Kirklands and Greenberg's out there sadly.
    • A black family having a white maid would be a good subversion of stereotypes. Also want to say that while the overall show has many flaws, the biggest one that's legitimately stifling is the lack of a rival family.
    • I also do not like the bits I've seen with Delia during Labine's 83 return. I am glad when she came back for the last time in 1986, she allowed Delia to move on from Frank.
    • Thanks for the well-detailed reply. I'm fairly early in my viewing, so I have some time before it goes nuts. Thanks a lot! @kalbir and @DRW50 thank you so much. I am just approaching 100 episodes, so I'm good for now.
