Agnes Nixon consulting at AMC?

Okay I have to admit I think I was dead wrong.

In the new SOD Jill Larson reports that Cortlandt Manor is coming back (I guess they forgot she converted it into the Glamorama?).

That has to be a Nixon mandate.....right?

That sounds interesting, but I'm not holding out much hope. It's obvious that they know things have gone way off track the past several years and they're aggressively trying to fix things by hearkening back to the past. The problem is that the writing, to be kind, is just not there. And all these poorly written nostalgic nods only serve to heighten the contrast between the quality of writing in the past vs. that of today. Babs and Jim really need to go. Although they're admirably redoing the structure to incorporate elements of the past, their writing never rises above the mediocre. All the show needs now is a good writer in place, and the show would be on fire.

She said it was a new set, and I was totally SHOCKED> Something seems to be changing on this show. More Opal lately, and a new set for the COURTLAND's of all people. Who snuck that in behind Fronsie's back? LOL

It won't be as good as the Cortlandt Manor back in the day given their financial state but at least they bothered. I'm assuming these scenes are more of Opal falling for Robert and they could have easily used any old set for that (when it doubt use the boathouse!)

Also, since Opal turned the living room into a new Glamorama back in 99 (one of the first things Agnes did) it would make sense that it wouldn't be the same as it was.

Very very surprising.

With the new CM set and more appearances by Opal, could this mean that after years of talk they're finally, finally getting around to casting a teenage Petey Cortlandt? With a similarly aged Cassandra being cast, that could be happening.

WoW! The Cortlandt Manor, I'm surprised B&E know what that is. They'll probably just do some silly re-write that will disappoint us all.

If you didn't start watching until 1991, you definitely missed the "golden years" of AMC. And that McTavish story was the end of everything that was great about AMC, and the show really never got it back.

Yea I wish I had seen the glory 80s when it had its golden years (minus 1985 and 1986)

I would love for them to bring back Petey. The last time he was around, he definitely had his parents' humor ;)....in the first couple of months of 2003, he was the only bright spot on the show (and a little bit of Fusion)

Whoa! :o

I can't believe the Manor is making a comeback!

Opal didn't convert the entire house to the Glamorama, so maybe we can see that, too. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong... But

I think I heard or read somewhere that AN has sold OLTL and AMC to ABC AGES ago, so, since they own the shows outright they can rape them in every orifice and AN just has to sit back and watch. I mean they consult with her because she's Agnes F'ing Nixon and she's a legend and all that, but I don't think she has any pull.
