Well I guess I'm going to have to be the one to say it: OLTL is EXACTLY where they deserve to be. They've chosen to focus on a very narrow audience and drive away everyone else just like the other ABC shows. AMC is all about Kendall and Ryan and GH is all about the mob. Ron has chosen to try and redo the 1990s. Well, I watched during the 90s, I don't need to see them again. If I want reruns, I'll watch TVLAND.

As unskilled as Higley was, Carlivati lacks creativity. But of course there are plenty of people who will trip all over themselves to give him a free pass because of the strike, conveniently ignoring the fact that the ratings were tanking before the strike.

I want to see Nelson Branco explain this one.

Frons seriously needs to go. Look at all the ABC soaps. They are the only ones down from last year. Very sad indeed.

i do not understand soap fans at all anymore.

Y&R, B&B and OLTL should have had gains.

The problem with soaps are that while soaps are doing the same old same old. Including recycling writers. Their viewers are coming to an understanding that they the viewers can do a much better at writing or telling a story.

I love reading viewers fanfics.

I'm also not surprised that ATWT lost more than a quarter million viewers during a week when the Nuke fans totally botched the campaign they launched. I could tell from the beginning that they went about bringing attention to their no kiss cause the wrong way.

I'm interested in this comment. Like all of us, I saw the media deluge about "no kiss". How do you feel this was botched? What should they have done differently?

Reverend Branco and the rest of the Holy Tabernacle of Carlivati will probably be sacrificing chickens at their next tent revival and potluck supper (emphasis on the pot) trying to come to terms with the fact that the rest of us heathens haven't seen the light.

Wow, what a horrible week for soaps, it should also tell those idiots at ABC something that GL is beating two of their soaps in total viewers...

Then again, don't ratings tend to dip the week after Feb sweeps officially ends anyway?

IMHO, soaps dont need to be creative. they need to tell real honest true storylines baised off characters emotions and past. they need to not insult the fan of the show. they dont need gimmiks or plot points. i do not think RC is god like some do, but he has turned that show around from the big huge clusterfuck DH left it in. as for the ratings, they dont even matter when you are talking about them reflecting the quality of the show. not at all. the only things that ratings show thats true is that Y&R is the best and GL is the worst.

tho, i do agree with you about gh & amc and how zendullryleeanaide are like the mob and it has hurt the show.

Oh and once again, compared to last year, the ABC soaps are the only ones down in total viewers. CBS soaps and DAYS are actually up in that area, wow...

i could be wrong but i dont think the point was to bring the ratings up.

in fact, id say the media HURT atwt, and that is a good thing. it deserves to be hurt.
