Y&RWorldTurner,

I hope they get rid of that DREADFUL casting director who is a FOLML from the flop Wildcard. She's a horrible casting director who clearly goes for looks and not substance. If any of her casting choices (like Eric Steinberg) can act, it's clearly luck.

I didn't know Judy Blye Wilson was doing double duty.

That's certainly true. Brad Bell's always shown loyalty to folks from his dad's days on Y&R - Alden and Eileen Davidson getting "rescued" to B&B after getting sacked by Y&R are the best examples I can think of - so he won't turn on Kay now for stepping up to keep a member of his writing team in the mix during the strike. And even though they don't have complete control of Y&R, I can see the Bells doing what they can to stick up for the Fi-Core writers who came in there. In Josh Griffith's case, the promotion to EP was likely his reward for taking one for the team, and given her last name and family affiliation by marriage, I don't see Maria Arena Bell getting shunned by Y&R, either, assuming she wants to stay involved in the show now that the strike is over. Sure, SONY and CBS can try and flex their muscles there, but given that their fair-haired girl (LML) has now been ousted, those muscles may not be very strong right now.

So you don't think it matters that they didn't replace anyone by going fi-core? I thought that was the main issue: fi-core writers being kept on in place of writers who went on strike. B&E didn't take anyone's job.

Scabs from the 88 strike have had long careers in soaps. Mimi Leahey, Donna Swajeski, Janet Iacobuzio...everyone knows they scabbed during the strike and they are all still around. And they are even WGA members!

Hope you're right though.

The WGA already stripped Fi-Core writers of their WGA Award nominations and I can't imagine the union being too happy about their writers, official members of the WGA, returning to work and working for/under a duo (B&E) who are Fi-Core and went Fi-Core during a crucial strike.

Fi-Core status wasn't created within the WGA until the 1988 strike, I believe. Many WGA members still resent the fact it was created in the first place.
