I am very surprised by this Stich thing. I guess it could just have been collegial (i.e., someone calls up B&B and says "tell us how you did those locations"..). But I think it suggests that there is a much firmer coordinatorial Bell hand (Bell Jr?, consulted during pillow talk with the headwriter) than we're feeling.

Do you think Bradley is heavily involved? I would almost like that, because it would explain why he is apparently asleep at the switch over at B&B.

According to a new interview with Tonya Lee Williams, she said judging from the time she left to now, she feels that the Bell's are once again taking a more active role in Y&R. She said BOTH of Bill Bell's sons seem to be involved these days, and of course spoke of Maria Arena Bell being HW.

But my Y&R doesn't NEED more writers.

Maria needs to go and replace Kay Alden over at B&B. Kay Alden needs to retire.

Hogan needs to go, too.

And then we need a thourugh in.house clean up of those remaining writers.

Hmmmmmmm. Both sons? Strangely, this make me happy. I want the Bell daughter in the mix too.

Nah. First, I think the team is doing okay. Second, the show needs 24 months of stability. Seriously. Commitment to a vision...let some long-arc stories play out as intended.

You are hilarious, Mark — what vision?!

I'm writing all about that in the Y&R thread. There IS a vision, and yesterday was a remarkably good examplar.

And that's what the credits showed. Stich directed some of the episodes when the storyline was in Sydney, but all the episodes that included remote footage in Sydney were directed by Kelly. And there was no separate "remote sequences directed by" credit, so wouldn't that mean Kelly directed everything in those shows, both remote and in the studio?

No, Cynthia Popp was given her first chance to do a remote in Sydney. And she did quite good considering what awful stories she had to link with Sydney's landscape and the limited shooting schedule.

Here's a pic from the shoot: Sydney20074.jpg

Deveney Kelly did the Big Bear location shoot back in 05... But except for these circumstances Michael Stich has done basically everything as soon as B&B left the studio from the earliest days of the show; only producer/director John C. Zak did some remotes, mostly in conjunction with Stich.

As for his Y&R backstory check my comment on the previous page...

As for Y&R's backstage rumbling in general: My huntch is that Maria is actively discussing things with Brad before the material passes on to the co-headwriters... Billy is quasi ep, hence Maria and Paul Rauch only got a co-executive producer title. Have no proof but that's how I see it.

For all the qualms many of us have about Brad, he has lots of experience. I'd be delighted if Maria was asking him questions...at least about historical plausibility, legacy characters to consider re-introducing. This makes perfect sense.

I think that cross-town rivalry thing was just "smack talk", not sincere.

I agree too...I think Bill Bell Jr. and Steve Kent at Sony have a lot to say.

Happy about Fred Johnson joining OLTL too! What a nice addition! :)

I want him at All My Children.

I want him at All My Children.

Maybe he prefers writing outlines, which is why he went to OLTL. Although he has experience writing scripts, he's written more outlines than scripts in his soap career.

AMC really needs to bring that position back, I don't understand why OLTL and GH get to keep it, and AMC doesn't. If it true that it's Julie Hanan Carruthers who started all of this, then she needs to be fired and replaced by someone who can balance that show's budget and reinstate the breakdown position.

Is Fred Johnson the same one who wrote for Y&R? If yes, how long was he on Y&R?
