Somewhere in Heaven (hopefully), JER is laughing at those words.

Please, tell me Patrick Mulcahey was not responsible for that horrendous dialogue. It'll just break my heart (sorry, Mr. Reilly!) if he was.

ETA

Am I the only one who doesn't read Steffy's dialogue and think of the theme song from "An American Tail"? And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby/It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky...

It's usually the title that comes with breakdown writers with more seniority and more money (and in some cases, a LITTLE more say in story, but not like a head writer or co-head writer).

New breakdown writers in the industry don't always get that title, but ones who have been around awhile and make higher salaries do.

Yeah, there's that Reilly contract. I'm not forgetting about it. It's just that that insanity was so over the top, and so NOT the norm, and something the whole industry looks at and MOCKS Corday for (not to mention the last laugh JER took to the grave), that I just don't count it. Sheer stupidity and bad business. Trust me - nobody at ABC is getting handed those contracts by Brian Frons. I absolutely guarantee it. Say what you will about Frons, but he runs a much tighter financial ship than Corday. And he doesn't let ANY writer or actor have the upper hand. (Except maybe Guza... but even Guza must have "only" 52 week cycles.) I just know there is no way a SCRIPT writer has that kind of job security. Not in this day and age.

You're absolutely right. Then again, Corday and Frons are in totally different executive positions. Frons HAS to be tough and he HAS to be good at his job, he's accountable to a board of directors and stockholders who will fire his ass if he doesn't deliver (and I, as a shareholder of Disney, have sent several letters to Bob Iger requesting just that!)...Corday, on the other hand, inherited this show and owns it, with Sony, outright. He answers to no one and does as he pleases so of course it's mismanaged to hell.

The Bells handle their talent, both on camera and behind the scenes, quite differently. Guarantees are handled differently for some actors (like Kate Linder) and writer cycles are also different (especially at B&B)...Janice Ferri Esser's contract stipulates that she can write for either B&B or Y&R or both, I don't know who wrote that jazzy little contract for her but it came in handy when she jumped ship from Y&R during the peak of LML's reign of terror.

    • As well as insulting our host, being rude to members who correct you, and having an inflated sense of duty. While others may be able to add numerous offenses, the egocentrism to force any conversation off-topic to focus on you is the most egregious act for me.  This is light entertainment, an interactive discussion, not the shallotpeel-hour.
    • Yes, that is why. I mean, not last minute but it was not what Shapiro originally wanted. First, she tried to buy the show. Then she tried to buy the character. Meanwhile several other companies also tried to buy the show.
    • I thought I had stopped & then I saw this post from you. To be clear I said I was wrong. I have not made an attempt at any backpedaling. There is literally no place to back pedal to. I did 3 things. I deleted. i apologized. I said I was wrong, egregiously so.
    • I think bringing Dano back to OLTL as her original character Gretel/Rae was a last minute thing because P & G wouldn't let ABC use the Felicia character. So even though she had ties to OLTL from back in the day, she just didn't fit into the OLTL of the late 90s/early 00s.. nor did she really fit into the other soaps at ABC either.
    • I don't think they were the biggest factor, but I do think there's a specific style to Dano's work that wasn't helped by how pointless her character often felt (and later on the various writers clearly saw the character as a joke).
    • I think Evie came in mid 1976 after Rita broke up with Tim because she realized she was leading him on.  And Evie became upset with Rita because she didn't tell her that she had previously dated Tim before she came to town.
    • Please stop, you were wrong, and you know it, now you're trying to back pedal. You even got called out by the DAYS actors/actresses on Twitter for that sh*t. It was disgusting and vile and IMO the family should have taken action against you It was clear the general public did not know about his illness and it was NOT your place to "spill the beans" just because you run a Facebook group, period! TBH IMO @Errol should have banned you ages ago Donna
    • Who went bowling? JFP & Anna? Is there any more to this?
    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
