Administrator Toups Posted December 10, 2007 Administrator Share Posted December 10, 2007 All shows shut down nproduction in December for the holidays. According to Liza Huber, the show will wrap production in March 2008 and the show will air through the summer. So, NBC has a few months to find a new home. Come on, NBC!! Members juppiter
I hope PSNS will stay alive on cable. It's really pathetic that DirecTV basically used the show just to get new subscribers. To say that it was getting good ratings and then cancel it anyway is just ridiculous. Members c0rinne
Forget that. NBC should put its effort into making sure that DAYS survives some way, some how. A show that has actually proven that given the chance, writing, and support it can be a success for the network.
Members patzo101
Wasn't this the same thing that happened to "Santa Barbara"? NBC said "Santa Barbara" was getting good ratings, and they were fully committed, but then, a week later, they announced they were cancelling the show? This is basically history repeating itself. We were duped, I tell ya, DUPED!
Members Shawn
If you had all the acting talent of Charity Rahmer, why would you rock the boat and leave for "better opportunities"? Simple. You know you are the luckiest bastard alive just to have an acting job and that no other soap would touch you.
Members Ryan
I'm reading some of these posts, and it reminds me of when I couldn't stand PSNS. I bashed it for a multitude of reasons, but I decided to just watch one day without any judgments, no expectations. And I was surprisingly entertained. I tried tuning in before and was disgusted with a lot of what I saw (IMO, Reilly's violence against the women characters was uncalled for). When I started watching PSNS on a regular basis, I wasn't tuning into see a great performance or writing of Y&R caliber. It was like watching a trainwreck, and I couldn't stop! Lol. I'm not going to sit here and try to change people's opinions. I still have my issues with the show, and have stated as to why I want PSNS to succeed on another network. I hope NBC will put as much effort into trying to save DAYS as they have done PSNS.
Members RogerNewcomb
If those who picked up DirecTV just for Passions canceled all at once, they might realize the impact, but obviously you can't cancel today and still watch the rest of the series so you're screwed. It's kind of like how Soapnet got everyone to call their cable companies and beg for their channel to be added to we could see shows like Another World, then as soon as they had gotten added in enough places, they switched to shows like One Tree Hill and The OC. Since DAYS is owned by Sony, I don't see NBC doing as much to save it, but maybe Sony will. I do think NBC will do more online soaps in the future. Members Rhiannon
They all probably would cancel Directv if it didn't cost so much to do so.........
Members PhoenixRising05
Great post, Ryan. I used to love the show and became very upset with it for the most part the past year or so but I always found entertainment and enjoyment in it. I, too, hope NBC will put as much effort forth for Days but I doubt it. They don't own it and I still think there are still some execs that have a hard on for JER, which is why he was allowed to do whatever he wanted on Passions (except when NBC pushed for traditional with him in 2004) and was left to destroy Days for so long. I think Sony will fight like hell for Days, which is why I am confident it will end up somewhere. I mean, they went out and got Ed to help so Sony clearly supports the show and wants to keep it alive. Roger made some good points too. Soapnet did the same thing by using classic soaps to draw fans in only to remove the shows people want to see although, I don't think that was the initial intention. I think that Frons changed Soapnet upon his promotion and that is when it went downhill.
Members stenbeck212
Did Nelson Branco get the memo? This is from today's entry on the TV Guide Canada site: MTV would be great. The entire network is a train wreck!
Administrator Toups Posted December 10, 2007 Administrator Share Posted December 10, 2007 Tabloid journalism at its best! "The Straw" should go back to journalism school....or is it that easy to get a job at TvGuide Canada? As a Canadian, I hang my head in shame.
