I'm afraid Ms. Evans would'nt get nearly the airtime that she got 20-25 years ago. OLTL has changed drastically since she was last on. A lot of stories now go to younger characters and Tina would likely be nothing more than a supporting player now, much like Erica Kane is now on AMC.

That is what Andrea would want. If she were to go back to OLTL, I doubt she would back away from only being on recurring like she was on Passions. Being on recurring allows her to devote time to her work with Breast Cancer research. That is why she never signed a contract with Passions. I doubt that would change if she were to go back to OLTL.

IF Passions does go on Oxgyen then I bet JER has to do some changes to the show because Oxygen is going to remain a channel for women enpowerment according to a recent article I read.

And also he will definately has to do some major changes to Vincent's storyline due to the fact he portray him negatively. Perhaps Vincent might seek some help and the child he carrying isn't Julians nor Chad's.

the last thing NBC/Oxgyen wants is to pissed off their already core audience with some of the degrading that I seen on Passions.

Obviously Vanguardian, you must not watch ONE LIFE much. Several 40 & over 40 castmembers of ONE LIFE are front & center, including Robin Strasser(Dorian), Erika Slezak(Viki), Jerry verDorn(Clint), Hillary B. Smith(Nora), Kassie DePaiva(Blair), Robert S. Woods(Bo) & Kamar de los Reyes(Antonio), plus Tuc Watkins(David), Peter Barlett(Nigel), with Ilene Kristen(Roxy), Catherine Hickland(Lindsay), Hunt Block(Ramsey) & more getting quite a bit of airtime. So Andrea Evans would do very well on this show even though she's 45ish.

What I meant was the cast and crew's interests. Seriously, would you wanna stay on a sinking ship that's been cancelled twice in one year with a slim chance of being picked up by a third network? Don't get me wrong, I love the show and I want to see it continue, but if it doesn't, then the cast and crew can move on to bigger and better pastures.

They'd find a way to not use her or mis-use her, believe me! And if she can't be anything close to the Tina she once was, like I don't think she would be, then there's no point. Furthermore, didn't she say on numerous occasions that she's very happily drawn to L.A.? If Passions ends that doesn't mean she'll automatically go prancing back to NY-based OLTL. BTW, you said that Andrea deserves better than Passions? This actress has had a thousand opportunities to return to OLTL if she wanted to. I understand that over the years, OLTL has tried voraciously to get her back even long before she landed on Passions, but she kept declining. I assume she was/is happy on that crap Passions.

Maybe with past headwriters like Dena Hackley, this would be true. But its pretty damn obvious Ron C. has a hard on for the vets and uses them often and in amazing ways.

That's a GOOD thing.

And the REASON she didn't return to OLTL for years even though the offer was there is because of her stalker incident that led to her departure in the first place.

Today, she'd probably be more than willing to return to a show of actual quality and integrity if the offer was right. Especially since Ron is almost guaranteed to treat Tina with total respect and pen great story for her.

bellcurve, that MADE MY F'ING DAY!!! Hilarious!

Don't get me wrong, I love "Days" -- not to mention daytime's BEST story, currently: the Ford Decker mystery -- but that would be HILARIOUS! And I would LOVE to see "Passions" promos on NBC, as it trumpets the triumphant return of daytime's most unique soap opera! :)

That will happen right after hell freezes over. NBC wants out of the soap business so they aren't going to bring back PASSIONS if they cancel DAYS.

Anyways, I saw over at soaps.com their is a Cruise for PASSIONS fans basically the Farewell to Harmony Cruise. So someone doesn't have hope.

    • Perhaps. But would anyone have wanted The Doctors to turn into what General Hospital ultimately became?  Dear God in Heaven...
    • Thanks @EricMontreal22 that must be one of the last issues. Probably the best soap magazine.
    • I can definitely see that airing the same week as The Love Boat colliding with an iceberg and sinking while crossing the North Atlantic on the Titanic anniversary with a “Who lives and dies?!” Promo next to Mr Belvedere being blackmailed over his wanted fugitive status back in the UK

Agree with you both. I am also going assume that while Hotel may had some big numbers the first 2 seasons BUT the demographics weren’t great. Reason I say this is I distinctly remember my parents watching St Elsewhere and/or The Equalizer after Dynasty.    I still don’t get Hotel’s designation as a primetime soap opera either lol. ABC should have aired Paper Dolls in the 10/9 slot on Wednesdays in the fall of 1984 to give that show some more legs.    Obviously ABC was eyeing a double bill night in the same vein as Dallas & Falcon Crest and that might have worked better than leaving Paper Dolls to the wolves in an untested timeslot.
    • I tend to stay out of EP discussions, simply because I rarely know who EPs when. And they all have their good and bad sides. But how are we supposed to judge JFP on anything other than what we see? I didn't know she was a director or a music director. (and unlike say, Chris Goutman, I never saw her credited as anything other than an EP) Specifically in the matter of casting Crampton, she took credit for it (or at Crampton gave her credit for it, whatever) and it was arguably, one of the worst recasts of the '90's (and either as bad or worse than the actress she fired).  She lost two important actresses in '92 and still decided to kill Maureen.  She had a wildly uneven tenure at GL. It's no wonder she's polarizing. But it kind of proves a point--great soap is always a that rare combination of everything clicking at the same time.  And believe me, if I could bring myself to watch her male successors who were responsible for bringing back Reva and allowing her to eat the show again, or hiring Hunt Block, or being too chicken to stand up to stans who and hamstrung the show with boring couples stuck in the same repetitive stories (Vanessa/Matt, Chelle/Danny or Richard/Cassie, take your pick) not to mention San CristoHELL....I'd be more than happy to roast them on open spits. I guess we end up talking about JFP because she's in a period we can nominally agree was one of the last "best" periods of the show.
    • A degree does not make one an expert at their job, it just shows that you can follow directions from a technical standpoint.  It doesn't mean that they're creative. JFP was all about the look of a show without considering that technical beauty can only carry a show so far if there is nothing interesting to go along with it.  Equality means calling out flaws equally in both genders.
    • NBC or P&G was even fool enough to take a full page ad for two consecutive weeks in TV Guide promoting this horrible storyline.

    • JFP has had more defense for her decades of terrible producing than many male producers ever had.
    • It makes sense that she got a degree in directing. I've always said she should have been a director. I think she works better at the technical aspects of the show. I think her problem is the emotion/heart of a show.  She always guts the heart of the show she's on and she makes decisions that stop longtime viewers from watching a show. I don't think it's sexism to call that out especially as I've said similar things about Conboy. I've called out Rauch for much worse.
    • "Aunt Blanche" first appears toward the end of this episode, about 57 minutes in.
