i agree - but i didnt know that Days was still airing behind anywhere.

Marlena is certainly not pathetic, her character has just been twisted around in years but hell she was and is still fantastic.

I found it annoying how Marlena lost her bitchy spark at one point and turned into the damsel in distress all the time, but she still was loveable and even got it back at time.

And her love with John? I know it got unrealistic with all the kidnappings and brainwashings, but hey, its a soap. And whatever the case, it was true love, and all those troubles was what made their love story so magical.

I love that Marlena has a bit of a bitchy spark in her. It doesn't come out unless she's threatened or someone threatens, or hurts her family. She's a survivor, she knows how to take care of herself. Heck, she's saved John as much as he's saved her, she knows how to survive. But she's complex, and she'll go to far lenghts to keep people she loves safe (including marrying Stefano to save her kid from her rapist).

Norway (where I am) and Sweden (where he is) are both four years behind. Marlena was poisoned at Caroline's wake a few weeks ago, the funeral just happened. We just saw December, 2003 episodes where Sami and Roman burst in after John & Marlena are kissing, break a glass and Sami tells Roman to shoot John because he's trying to kill Marlena. Marlena really stands up for John against Sami and tells her straight. John & Marlena make love on the couch (dubbed the Broken Glass scene) - it's when we saw the blood-red screen as it faded out, had people kinda puzzled when it first aired because of the rumors of Marlena being the killer.
