I found that funny as well, I always think of JER as the recluse who stays at home all the time and has a really zany imagination.

LOL! You will one day, and you'll ask him tons of questions for me about his stint on GL and what it was like working with Curlee. ;)

I also liked Peter's description of going to Pam Long's house and how he would always try to pitch ideas to her. I also found it funny that he really loved working with JFP, as I said before, she's one of those people you either hate or love (much like JER, I don't know how those two got along at GL).

Come to think of it, Peter had a really positive outlook on all the shows he's worked on and with all the writers/producers he's worked for, he just seems like a really nice guy.

And you have to wonder what he does with all that money he's making if so recluse. LOL

Yeah, I'll definitely ask that just for you. LOL

You know it's fascinating to hear writers like Peter and Tom Casiello speak so highly about writers and EPs who most fans hate. Maybe it's because Tom and Peter are nice guys who have great relationships with most of the people they work with.

What I found most interesting was his relationship with Corday, according to Peter, Corday didn't interfere with his work much, even when he was Co-HW. I wonder if we've been giving Corday too much credit for some of the stupid decisions made behind the scenes at DAYS, it could very well be execs at Sony after all.... but I still prefer to blame Corday.

Well, he couldn't just come out and say, 'Yup, Ken Corday interfered all the time.' LOL

I don't know who intefered but I'm pretty sure there was interference coming from somewhere/someone. I could see if from the day-to-day writing. The episode continuation was horrible. It was very un soap opera like. For example, you would have a cliffhanger on a Friday, but you wouldn't see what happened next until the Wednesday after. Veteran breakdown writers like Peter and Paula don't f'uck up on things like that.

Anyway, I still prefer to blame Corday too. When in doubt, blame Corday.

Another really strong interview - very humble and very HONEST.

I wonder if one of the effects of this strike is seeing and hearing more writers' thoughts on the situation. Before the strike, everyone was very quiet (probably for job security, I would think). But I feel like lately there are quotes all over the place from writers of ALL genres (not just daytime).

It'll be interesting to see if other writers speak up about their thoughts on the industry after the strike is over.

Here are some questions.

1. Is Ken Corday that big of a dickhead to work for?

2. Whose idea was it to make John a Brady/DiMera?

3. Why wasn't Steve's missing years explored during your tenure?

4. Whose idea was it to push the younger set and backburn the vets?

Here are my questions:

Recently Scott Bryce said that Christopher Goutman is in an unenviable position of having to steer the ship of a show plagued by budget cuts. This decade may be remembered for the toll taken on soaps by eroding viewership. That being said, what does a strain on production resources have to do with excellent writing? A smaller budget should not guarantee an exclusion of veteran actors, character history or believable circumstances.

Are you able to describe a time when one of your shows suffered due to interference in writing by a network, production company or executive producer?

Was Victoria Wyndham right in saying that NBC sabotaged P&G's efforts to save Another World? Since then how has P&G changed as an advocate for the soaps they produce?

Love in the afternoon has become lack in the afternoon. Why should viewers continue to support daytime?
