Members Vee
I was under the impression the Y&R fans didn't care for him at all. I think he's been a good HW in the past but he does not seem to be from the Y&R school.
Members Chris B
It's LML who rightfully gets most of the venom. Josh Griffith has been the co-EP for a long time now, replacing Ed Scott. On that front he's done a horrible job, but I'm willing to give him a show at writer. I truly don't think anything could get worse than LML. Her Y&R is so bloody boring, plot driven and it's obvious nothing is planned. Hopefully with Griffith, major events like miscarriages and the first time a couple have sex, don't happen during the fricking commercial break. He never "replaced Ed Scott," Ed Scott hasn't been EP of Y&R since 2000. When Scott returned to Y&R in 2004, he was on a Supervising Producer. When David Shaughnessy left in 2004, Jack F. Smith was the sole Executive Producer, he was so until midway through 2006, then no EP was credited. LML was named EP in late 2006, Griffith would be her co-EP a little later, I believe. Y&R is the only daytime soap Griffith has ever produced by the way...
Members Chris B
According to Soap Opera Digest, Griffith replaced Ed Scott in terms of the type of producing work he did. Yes he got a different title, but as the SOD article said, Scott was being phased out and Griffith took over the day-to-day duties at the show. This article was before Scott got fired, at the time Y&R firmly denied it. You can notice as well since performances and production values have suffered. Everything Ed Scott mentioned he was bringing to DAYS is gone from Y&R.
Members DaytimeFan
See that's why I don't really have it out for Griffith...he is inexperienced at producing. For this reason I think he may have been brought in to balance LML. If so, he's done a poor job...but with Latham Inc at the helm I think it would be impossible to veto her and her husband. Honestly, I hate LML so much, I've just lost all ability to go against anyone who would replace her. I think a 3rd grader could outdo her. So if Griffith has made a power play, go for it Josh, terminate the bitch and hire some decent writers who know the show!

This article was before Scott got fired, at the time Y&R firmly denied it. You can notice as well since performances and production values have suffered. Everything Ed Scott mentioned he was bringing to DAYS is gone from Y&R. Scott hasn't had significant say in Y&R duties since 2000. I do recall an interview in 2004, when Shaughnessy had left, Jack F. Smith said he was by himself taking care of working with the actors, making sure things are done on time, and the budget was right. Scott's role, as supervising producer, was to take care and oversee the work of the lower-level producers, which the EP with all his/her duties can't do. Smith was listed as EP midway through 2006, so if Scott stepped in after that, it must have been for a VERY short period. Now that we're at it, if Y&R needs someone to get the production values and classic Y&R traits back, why isn't Sony begging David Shaughnessy to come back? He only occasionally directs for B&B and hasn't done much since leaving Y&R in 2004. Now would be the perfect time to get him back.
Members Vee
I've lost respect for Griffith for going FiCore. Sure, it's good to have LML out, but still.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I hope to god that if Latham and Griffith are fired, the idiots at Sony and CBS DO NOT make Y&R's Head Writer and Executive Producer the same damn person! There's no balance of power if that system. It didn't work for Jack F. Smith and it's been a disaster for Latham. Y&R needs both a competent HW and EP, and they must not be the same person! Members DaytimeFan
Could not agree with you more. David Shaughnessy was a wonderful EP, the production values, direction and music were spot on. He's still in the Bell fold...and while Sony is at it, give David's good pal Kay Alden a call. Members Chris B
The SOD article last year specifically said that Ed Scott ran the control booth and was replaced by Josh Griffith. I'm not sure we can be so sure what exactly Jack Smith was doing since he mentioned his son was dying during 2005, when we all thought he was the main headwriter. During his exit interview, he said he was just getting back into the swing of things when LML fired him (which he said was a mistake).
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I totally agree with you! The thing I liked most about Shaughnessy, though Y&R was glammed up, he also ran the show like a Repertory Theatre. The actors, writers, and producers all respected and befriended him. His experience as a theatre director came in handy and Y&R was firing on all cylinders when he was there. When he left in 2004, the decline in the show's quality was apparent, though it's even more apparent now.

Members Khan
Told you so, lol. Who's to say that he will? Besides, as I think I've said before, Tomlin's track record as a HW is actually better than many might suspect. His stint (w/ Michelle Poteet Lisanti) at DAYS was kind of a bust (although, he did have the unenviable task of cleaning up Nina Laemmle's mistakes), but his work on ANOTHER WORLD (w/ Richard Culliton, and later, Gillian Spencer and Samuel Ratcliffe) and SEARCH FOR TOMORROW (two stints, one by himself, and one w/ Lisanti) was often very solid.
