Writer's Strike Thread

"Ellen"

Decided not to tape her show Monday in support of the striking writers. Some writers on her show are guild members. Monday's and Tuesday's shows were taped last week, a spokesman said. DeGeneres has yet to decide whether to go ahead with further shows this week.

Ellen was back taping yesterday.

"Desperate Housewives"

Has nine episodes written, which should last through the first week of December.

Several sources have said that Desperate Housewives will end production today after they have completed episode 10. They have no more scripts.

"My Name is Earl"

Has 13 out of 13 episodes completed

Someone works on this show on another board I go to. She said that they have two shows to film. And apparently they have to film them because of the locations they have booked.

"30 Rock"

Has nine out of 22 episodes completed, with several days of shooting for the 10th episode scheduled for this week.

I am pretty sure I read 30 Rock has shut down production considering that Tina Fey in on strike.

Ellen must be in the WGA herself. Are we to believe that she'll just improvise every episode for the strike's duration?

Has anyone heard anything the shows Life is Wild, Reaper, Criminal Minds, Bionic Woman and ER? Do they have anyone scripts and have they stopped production?

John Wells told the AP that they have one ER script ready to shoot, one in good shape, and one rough draft that will have to be reviewed to see if it's ready to shoot. So, best case scenario, they have three scripts left.

Haven't heard about the others.

Holy Crap!

I can't find the article anywhere, but I read somewhere that the WGA is asking all of its members to turn in any unproduced scripts to them immediately, so they can make sure the Writers aren't crossing the picket lines! And the AMPTP is threatening to sue the writers if they turn those scripts over the WGA, because the material, once handed in to the production company, belongs to them.

WOW. This is really heating up!

That would be the Script Validation Program. Here's a detailed article about it from a couple of weeks ago in Variety.

I worry that if the strike continues into Janurary, and Days ends up just shutting down production...it will be gone for good, and NBC will use that chance to cancel it. :(

"True Blood" and

"12 Miles of Bad Road" Have begun production.

I know True Blood began production about 3 weeks ago. Graham is filming his 3rd episode this week. He filmed the other two episodes a few weeks ago in New Orleans.

Question: Seeing stars of primetime shows on the picket line with the writers, should soap actors do the same?

Nancy Lee Grahn was seen picketing. Someone over at SZ saw her in the background on ET when they were showing the Grey's cast out picketing. GA is filmed next door to GH.

Soap actors belong to a different union but almost all of them are probably part of SAG because of any primetime and film work they have done. Plus it also hard to get an agent without you SAG card. Some casting directors also won't let you audition without having your SAG card.

Ru, once again you have proved wrong.

just because they are lower rated doesnt mean anything. you really thjink from a network standpoint they thought up "hey these shows are not in the double digits. lets pull them and air reruns of them! thats sure to get higher ratings!" no. they were pulled to preserve new episodes. FNL, i belive actually is only a few epsidoes ahead of what is airing.

letrs face it - almost every scripted show is about the be pulled and put into reruns - and it all has to do with the writers strike.

Ru is often wrong.
